Some trouble with a irc2880, help !

Hi again,

I am having lots of problems with my new irc2880..
First problem is that the paper size on my second tray(11x17) just changed by itself.... It changed to B5 and I cant seem to get it to work or change it back to 11x17..

Next problem is that the stack by pass wont register or know if there is any kind of paper on the tray, a small black lever came off, i think its the actuator or that signals if there is any paper in the tray.
After I put a paper size on the stackbypass options and change the paper type or size it wont let me, it just stays with the last one I chose, no way to change it..

Any ideas on how to take apart the door on the right ? So that I can but back the small black arm/lever that senses the paper on the stackbypass???

The problem with it changing from 11x17 to B4 is probably the A/B switch on the cassette. It tells the copier if you are using US or European paper sizes. Look on the front right side near the dial for paper sizes for a small white switch. I can't remember if it should be up or down but look at another cassette to see how it should be.

The problem with your bypass is definitely from the black actuator falling out. I'm not sure how comfortable you are with taking it apart, but you might be better off calling a tech to put it back in. I'm not sure if it goes on the door or the copier on that model. But the pressure springs in the door can be tricky to get back in.

It changed to b5.. the white switch is in the A position.. There is no way to change the size... this is getting a little frustrating with the machine..

I am pretty comfortable taking stuff apart, and have done with my old IRC3220... I just wanted to know if there was a procedure or step by step on how to do it...

the IRC2880 is pretty different from my 3220..

tech guy sucks big time, plus I am getting crap from them holiday season to much work, etc..

Is there a way to choose in the system or by software or panel the size for the second tray ?? Or the only way is with the blue dial ?

I am not sure about the a-b thing on the paper choice switch, all I know is that in the US, the lever is popped up into the assembly. Our copiers come to us with the little white lever in that position, but the paper drawers 3 & 4 when installed under the copier come in the A/B size mode, and the levers are in the down position, we have to pop them up to show US paper sizes. I suspect that either the lever has been popped down, or the switch asm that it interfaces with on the copier is not sensing the white lever.

I can change to anyother type of paper size on the second tray, but it just wont accept 11x17..

might try to change the 1st tray to 11x17 and the second to letter...
