    Canon ir 3035 - E540-8005

Problem with the S1 finisher. The tray does not go up and down. And it gives a Unable to use finisher error. Did not find anything in the manual about testing the functions of the finisher. Is there a way to test the motors, sensors, and clutch functions of the finisher?

Has anyone run into this error before?

    Thanks

    Ronald

If you have functions limited enable you will lose finisher options. I never see to many 540's with S1's so i never had to check. But if you go into Additional Functions > Common settings > screen 5 and check if Limited Functions is On. If it is on, then turn Limited Functions Off and power cycle the copier. This might work if you have this option. Most image runners have this option if you know. If the error pops again, check fuses on the finisher PCB.

      for enlightenment...

The cables that follow the tray have been known to get caught, not allowing the tray
      to travel full distances...

Check the fuses on the finisher controller. There are about seven on the board.

          i agree/w mrfixit51=first check that cable harness !!
also check or replace "paper face sensing flag" if old it is narrow / replace w/new type=it's face has been enlarged to block more area of sensor light, new part #4A3-1043-020 & stopper damper #4Y3-3006-000

*or For various Finisher error codes and malfunctions:
With the copier "ON' turn ON all 4 dip switches, cheat the finisher door switch, press and hold SW2 until the LED stops flashing. Then turn off copier, turn off dip switches and turn copier back on. Check to see if the finisher initializes and if the problem is resolved.

If all fails Check FU3 for 24v on both side of the fuse= from ground to one side /then ground to the other side /both need to read 24v, if one side does not read 24v - fuse is blown, replace the finisher controller. Part number 4G1-1478-050.
