    Lc 710

I have a customer that has a fax machine that gear chatters. Swapped fuser, drum, no difference. The transport belts seem to chatter with this noise. Any suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks!

There is a small gear assy that drives the belts under the white plastic cover it has 1 screw holding it. I usually take it apart and change the bad gears without removing the shaft it is a lot easier that way.

I take it a step further,, the distance between drum/transfer and fuser is so short, there is no need for the belt drive in the first place. Like Copyhere explained, remove the screw to access the drive assembly. I remove the gears, turn the belts over so the smooth side is facing towards the paper and place the drive assembly back in place. No parts,, and no jamming, because the paper is transported by the drum/transfer roller pressure to the fuser entry area

Thanks, removing the gears and flipping the belts worked great!

Just bear in mind, if your customer uses this as a printer and/or expects quality print/fax quality out of this machine that when you pull that gear/belt you will get a blur image defect on the lead edge of page. If they bark you will have to replace the gear assy. (or quick fix would be to swap mini gears, if possible) and shaft in rear. Always lube the gear up after replacement. Good luck.

I have not seen that image defect occur,,, I will keep an eye out for that the next time I visit that machine. Thanks for the heads up!
