You may still need a printer kit installed.
PCL Printer Kit J1. Its standard on (i) models.

Mr fixit broke it down for ya.
UFRII driver would be needed in order to print.
The PCL printer kit J1 is optional for PCL printing.

I used ufrii drivers and selected usb port but cannot get to print.
And only has usb port not ethernet port.

Once ufrii drivers installed on printer and faxes window always shows printer offline mode.

jUST CHECKED BROCHURE FOR UK MODELS UFR II KITJ2 & JI ARE OPTIONAL.

SO CAN I PRINT VIA USB CONNECTION LIKE A STANDARD USB PRINTER? OR IS THE PORT FOR UPLOADING FIRMWARE ONLY.

          I am doing something wrong?

It should work. When you connect the usb cable to the copier then to your computer, something should indicate the hardware has been recognized and will try to install software for this hardware. At that point since you have the driver installed on your computer select, have disk browse for the driver, select the driver for that model. Its seems that the driver is installed however. But if it indicates offline make sure the the computer has recognized the device. It might just be a communication issue at this point.

Screwtape has made a good point here, most USB devices when introduced to a PC cause a popup window to indicate a new device has been found. Most USB devices now want the software installed before plugging in the device. If the driver was already installed, make sure the copier is powered up and running before plugging it into the running PC and see if you get the device discovery dialogue pop up. You can try this on your service laptop as well, to see if it is an issue with the PC.

Tried with service laptop, loaded drivers , printer shows up on control panel but when you try to print goes throuth motion and stops, tried on 2 copiers , the same problem.

i was reading on service manual that USB port for uploading firmware with SST?
But was told , not sure correct that i should be able to print using USB port even though printer kit not installed?

Have not printed to one of these through USB, but something comes to mind. In earlier copiers with a parallel port, the port had to be enabled for printing purposes,,, maybe the USB port has to be enabled in the printer setup?? Also the specs said that ethernet ports were to be standard,, your's don't have them??

Montana is correct. The service guide is a bit misleading about printing functionality. I have a few of these units in the field but mine are 2020i, everything is standard on these. i don't see them too often, there pretty good machines. The firmware upgrading is different on these. I did not know that USB is the only way you can upgrade these units. You learn something new everyday. Thanks for for the insight on these units montana.
