    IR 5570 Poor fusing

Hello, I have a 5570 that is having some fusing issues. Toner smearing on the front and backs of copies, especially on long runs. Seems to be running at the correct temp, no error codes, Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would check the pressure roller, pr bushings and pr bearings first as they are a problem in this series. Then check the bushings and bearing for the hot roller.

what kind of paper stock is the customer running?
This unit is not as forgiving as the previous IR models.

The IR 5700 has an inductive heater system, to prevent overheating of the upper fixing roller, there is a metal shielding plate inside the fixing roller called *flux shielding plate* (no joke). Check if this shield is positioned correctly

Thanks for the replys gentlemen, I have checked the shutter and all seems fine, I was out at 2 different 5570s in the field and checked them with a katun b/w test chart and they do the same thing. It seems all right when you run just text, but when you run some heavier coverage it smears toner and builds up on the upper and lower. Maybe thats part of this machine, it seems they all run at about 185C, that seems to low to me. I am going to try a different heater core and see if that helps.

Your solution may lie in these settings...

                      COPIER > OPTION > BODY>FIX-TEMP in level 2

Use it to select down sequence mode.

                      0: normal (default)
                      1: standard + 10 deg C
                      2: standard - 5 deg C

Your solution may lie in these settings...

I have the same problem with a 5570 at a small print shop. When running card stock you can easily rub the toner off. I've replaced UFR, LFR, bushings and bearings - that helped some. I'm ordering thermistors today. I'll let you know if that helps more.

Let's Try some diagnostics, first at all, place a few sheet of a4/ltr paper in the bypass. Then enter Service Mode, COPIER>FUNCTION>FIXING, the do the NIP-CHK. A sheet comes out with a gleamy stripe on it. It should measure between 4,5-6,5mm in the middle and get bigger to the ends of the sheet, up to 8mm. What results do you get?
