    IR400 E805-0002

I have an ir400 that keeps giving this code. It throws the code before anything moves just a couple seconds after turning it on.
The 1st call I troubleshot it to the dc-con. Replaced it with a used one and it came to life as soon as I switched it on.

About 2 weeks later same code came back and I figured it was a "used" dc-con anyway and put another dc-con in and it took right off. But just in case I replaced the 2 fans.

About 1 week later same code came back and I had to replace the dc-con to get it going. I cut all the wire ties just in case but I just have the feeling next week I'm going to get a call for E805.

I de-solderd the 2 fuses from the old dc-con and they are good. Any ideas?

What about the LVPS giving intermittent voltage to the fans?, have you checked that?

    (LVPS=Low voltage Power Supply)

Are these the fans on the left hand door by the fuser exit area? How secure are the fans? Those covers that go over them can hang the fan propellor, giving the codes. Last one I ran into I tossed the guides and wire-tied the fans to the door, as the brittle plastic could not be trusted...

since u were dealing with DC controller / check this pub>
        from old tech pub.
        E805 with a 0002 Sub Code
may be caused by a pinched wire that goes to connector J108 B-18 on the DC Controller. The wire was pinched to the frame near the riser to the DADF-A1 exit side hinge. Inspect the harness indicated by the arrow in the picture.

I had an IR 330 exibit the same problem, the boxes are getting up in age, the harness had to be replaced. For your sake I hope that is not the issue, but is a very realistic option. What a fricken joy!(bring your camping tent)

Just an update, so far so good. I guess cutting those wire ties did the trick!
