    imagepass C1 E000677-0004

Had an ir c3220 w/imagePASS C1 we shipped to buyer out of state. Worked perfect here. Went through cable connections and user has cables connected properly, told him when powering down turn off copier then the C1 and turn on C1 then copier to try to get back to Fiery Setup.

User says he got to network settings then E000677-0004 (come-off detection of the external controller- the external controller fails to detect a connection while the power is ON, even though the controller properly detected it when the power was turned ON) comes up.

His router is 192.168.2.1 and we had tested this and setup gateway as 192.168.1.1 - is this causing the issue? I told him to take out Ethernet in from his router and try Fiery setup again.

Has to be something simple. I set the guy up with someone to come over for $125 to set him up but he wants to do it himself. Has to be something simple. C1 is totally functional and not defective here when we tested.

Found one hit on it, could be that the heatsink and fan got knocked off in shipping.

    Problem :
E677; Sub Code 0004 will be displayed when the ImagePass C1 tries to communicate with the machine after being turned "On".

    Solution :
The Heat Sink and CPU Fan detach from the Mother Board creating this problem

      operator error

Customer was not following instructions had a Canon guy come out it is working fine now no codes.

Unit has 61K on meter and fuser rollers 17% reading in service mode check. Was printing 8.5x11 and 11x17 perfectly which we included with customer's c3220 when we shipped it.

Customer noticed on an 11x17 ONLY that when it prints sometimes a thin vertical line is visible in print output. I saw none of that here in our shop.

Tech (out of state guy) that set up my customer's copier said flat spots in fixing can cause that. I told customer uneven image density or fogging/blurry happens on a flat spot - not a vertical line(s). Unless there is a visible line on a fixing roller - but that would appear on an 8.5x11 too. Last, it would happen in copy mode, too.

So my question is what in print mode would cause a thin vertical line that does not appear on a copy? I never heard of it.

Line may occur when printing using the PCL driver. To compensate for this, check the Line Control (Grey Compensation) within the PCL driver located at: Printing Preferences > Quality > Details

            just to add a note
In the newer Fiery PPDs on MAC OS X, you must use the 'Owner Information' drop down to enter Department ID, Department Password, Secured Password, Mailbox, or Select Tab Position. The 'Fiery Job Notes' drop down is no longer used. Now the label is the same as the PC PS driver (Owner Information).
