    ir5570 01OC jam code

I had a call, actually 4 calls at this school, not usually my account. While I was working on the ADF which is what they called it in for, they mentioned the 2nd paper deck jammed a lot. The feed tires had been replaced the previous call but there were still a lot of 01OC jams (delay PS20) from the 2nd paper deck. I pulled out the feed assy and everything looked good. What I usually do is modify the releases for the sep roller and pick up tires. I've noticed when the drawer closes they still touch the sep assy and prevents the full sep pressure. And I've noticed the same thing with the pick up tires, it will stop lifting just as the stack touches the P/U tires so there is barely any pressure.

I worked on another 5570 and 2 5020's and checked the jam history. Not a ton of jams but most of them were jam codes for paper deck 2 with a few oddball ones in there as well. The 5570's have 700k and the 5020's have 1.8 mil and 2.2 mil. Which got me thinking that starting with the NP6050,6550, 5000, 600 and now 5570's paper deck 2 has more jamming issues than paper deck 1. 98% of the time I put new tires in paper deck 1 and no more jams. Not so with PD2.

Is it just me or does anyone else have problems with delay jams at the 1st feed sensor from paper deck 2?

What do you do for jams (01OC) only from PD2?

    Minimizing 010B/010C/010D/010E/0107/0108 Jam Codes
010B: Right deck retry sensor delay jam
010C: Left deck retry sensor delay jam
0107: Right deck pull-off sensor delay jam
0108: Left deck pull-off sensor delay jam
010D: Cassette 3 retry sensor delay jam
010E: Cassette 4 delivery sensor delay jam

If the above symptoms occur, Canon U.S.A., Inc. recommends replacing the Pick-up Inlet Guide (cassettes)
and the Separation Plate (right and left deck) with their new types FL3-3134-000 (cassettes) and FL3-3135-
000 (right and left deck) respectively.

At 700k. I am not sure if this applies, but there is a one-way bearing in the frame on the input drive shaft of the LH paper feed assembly, the black plastic one. I have seen these often breakdown, either stalling the shaft, or in some cases, actually locking up the shaft. Figure 313, item #22, FB4-9043-000.

Just an update. What I found on the 5570 was the lift sensor (item #10) was sticking. I took the feed assembly out after I saw it lift about halfway and stop. The flag was sticking just a bit. I gave it a drop of oil but it still didn't feel right so I glued a small chunk of rubber to give it some extra weight.

On the others, one just needed new feed tires and the other I had to bend the lever that releases the sep roller. When the drawer was closed the actuator on the drawer was not putting enough pressure on the lever that releases the sep roller, so the sep roller was barley touching the feed roller. Nothing was broken or cracked, I guess maybe the frame or drawer rails might be bent? Anyway they all ran 100+ out of drawer 2 no jams. Thanks for the ideas!

one thing to watch is when re-installing the plate that you remove to get at the sep roll....if you put the wrong screw back when re-assembling(too long),it hits the lever/linkage that brings the sep roll up to the feed roll when you close the deck, preventing sep roll from fully engaging
