    Network scan gear on ir5000N

Not a frequent poster to the Canon section, but maybe you experts can help with a question. Every Canon I've seen in the last 10 years or so is TWAIN capable using scan gear without any additional hardware added. Yesterday we had a customer that wanted to use their 5000N to help catch up on the backlog of scan jobs. Told her "no problem, I'll just come out and load scan gear on a PC and you should be good to go". When I press the "SCAN" hard button I get "additional equipment required to use this function". What does it need to enable scanning? Thanks for any input. PS this device is on the network and has been printing for years. Emujo
If you don't see your question answered in the forum, please don't think it's OK to PM me for a personal reply...I do not give out firmware and/or manuals.

Go into service mode and change NW-Scan - 1

    1) Enter Service Mode by pressing Additional Functions > 2 and 8 simultaneously > Additional Functions.
    2) Select Copier.
    3) Select the Option tab.
    4) Select User.
    5) Scroll to page 3 and select NW-Scan and set this to 1 (the default is 0).
    6) Select OK.
    7) Press Reset to back out of Service Mode and reboot the imageRUNNER

      Emujo,do like this:
1-Go to the copier monitor and press Scanner-Online
2-Download and install Network Scangear from canon website(twain drivers)
3-Find a twain scanning software like Infotek Informatik Scan(you can download it hear a 30 days full trial Free Informatik Scan Download)
4-Launch Network Scan Gear and Discover your IR5000N
5-Launch Informatik Scan and use it to scan 1-1 or duplex in all popular formats,pdf,jpg.....etc and save it wherever you want.

Have you configured the network scan gear correctly? And what application are you scanning into?
