    Just a note/ 3220 must have at least v 82.03 to communicate with imagePassC2

Call Canon to Order Firmware for C2
/ FK2-2255-000 CD System S/W- or hook up with an IT person or Tech. that works for an authorized Canon dealership in your area/ do u maintain any type of support with other techs. ??

DDR DIMM2 socket (with standard DIMM)=256MB
DDR DIMM1 socket (for optional upgrade)=256MB

If u have one DIMM it must go in DIMM2 socket

      new question re C1

Bought used C3220 with C1; printer button yields the "Wait a Moment" message. I am not a tach and my IT guy set up an IP address but could not figure out cables. I need basic help to hook this thing up. DIP switches are to the left, pwr lights are on, all cables are seated, Cat 5 to lowest port, crossover cable from upper print server port to main unit, network connection error message is gone, copy function works.

      Thanks for any help

I would get a Canon trained service tech to inspect if u have all the Pcb's required/ did the person u bought demo all the functions for networking printing ???

did u receive the imagePass C1 Software CD ??

        make sure/ In service mode Copier/Option/Int-Face/Img-Cont: Set Img-Cont to = #3

To Enter Service mode (Additional Functions > 2 and 8 > Additional Functions).
        Select Copier > Option > Int-Face > IMG-CONT.

How to Determine if an imagePASS C1 or C2 is connected?
There are a few ways to determine whether the Fiery RIP connected to the Color imageRUNNER C3200 / C3220 is an imagePASS C1 or imagePASS C2.

        1. Check the memory sticker near the power plug. The imagePASS C1 will show 128 MB. The imagePASS C2 will show 256 MB.

        2. Look for the 2 digit digital display on the imagePASS. If you see the display, the model is the imagePASS C2. The imagePASS C1 does not have any type of digital display. Please see the images below.

        3. Look at the fans near the power plug. The imagePASS C1 will have 2 fans, the same size. The imagePASS C2 will have 1 larger fan.

        4. Look at the connector panel. See the images below to determine which imagePASS you have. The imagePASS C1 will have a parallel port.

          C1

I have the C1, no doubt about that. I also have four manuals not useful for this stage, the ImagePASS-C1 User Software CD and User Documentation CD, but not the Canon Utility Software CD.

There are no Canon dealers here. I bought this on eBay and it was shipped to me, well packaged, 40k copies, looks in good shape, no obvious damage. I do not know how to do the rest of the things you suggested; do I need to open a file on my computer?

I.e., entering service mode, is that on the computer or on the copier?

My IT guy installed drivers and set up an IP address and pinged the printer, but he did not know cabling or how to make it print.

If you want, give me your phone number and I will call you. This stuff is way over my head.

          Thank you.

Thanks for help, but I must have a bigger problem. I cannot get a screen on the copier with a keyboard. There is no "Options" display. The machine was advertised as complete and operational and fully equipped. The cables are all correct and seated. Lights on C1 are appropriately lit.

I do not have that Options tab; I have a "Printer" tab in the same place as your graphic, which leads me to the enduring "wait" message.

                  Thanks again for your help.

the Four power Led's on the side of C1/ how are they lit up / they are numbered 1-2-3-4 ????/

have u tried to get in service mode to check /

                    In service mode Copier/Option/Int-Face/Img-Cont: Set Img-Cont to = #3

To Enter Service mode (Additional Functions > 2 and 8 > Additional Functions).
                    Select Copier > Option > Int-Face > IMG-CONT.

why didn't seller give u C1 CD Software/ How did u know if C1 was functioning before sale/

a blind purchase of anything on eBay is risky. CONTACT SELLER/ or PayPal about your purchase/ what was stated in add on warranty.

Remove cover from C1 and check if DIMM is sitting straight .

Pwr light is green. 4 leds below it are red when copier is first turned on, then they go off. Two green lights below ethernet cable are on; left one blinks, right one steady.

Screen on copier shows 4 tabs: Copy, Mailbox, Scan, Printer and a right arrow at the top. Arrow leads to a message screen "No MEAP applications are loaded".

Hitting the printer tab leads to a message: "Printer Status/Settings" Hitting that tab leads to the wait message.

I do not see tabs for any of the instructions you are giving me, like Service Mode, Additional Functions, Copier, Options, Int-Face.

I know that I have options with eBay and PayPal; I want to get this working if I can. Seller so far says to call an IT person; if Seller's performance does not improve very soon, I will take this up with eBay, but maybe it's a simple fix. Doesn't sound like it. Thanks.

to enter service mode/ u hit that add function *asterisk key (shown as #10 user mode key in pic) then both #2 & 8 key at same time / then hit the add function *asterisk key- it brings u in service mode/ don't try to adjust anything/ just hit Copier > Option > Int-Face > IMG-CONT/ make sure it has a 3 next to it/ to re set it put a 0 hit ok/ then put back 3 hit ok / then hit the re set key on panel/ this OPTION is different than the one I had u look for/ reason u don't see that OPTION tab is because the Network setup has already been done.

                        that
IMG-CONT setting tells printer that an imagePass is connected.
make sure C1 is powered off before re set of
                        IMG-CONT//

Seller sent a different C1 print server with cables. Copier tech came over; we still cannot get the server to talk to the copier. Seller sent cables this time. All lights on server are green, but access into server using the copier service mode is incomplete. We suspect the card in the copier.

Go into additional functions-> report setting. Is "printer" listed in the right column?

The only other thing I can think of is to reinstall the system software.

Straight-through cables RJ-45 are sometimes known as patch leads and have the wire colors in the same order at both ends when held side by side. This is because each wire is connected to the same pin at either end.: BELOW PIC

Crossover cables will have the wire colors in a different order at each end, effectively crossing the wires over to connect different pins together at each end. Crossover cables can be used to connect two computers together directly from network card to network card.

To tell whether a cable is straight-through or crossover, hold the ends of your cable side by side with both spring clips facing down and compare the wire colors to the diagrams above.
