DLP, that seems to have done the trick. Thanks much. Now does it make sense that once I install a printer on the server others have issues, I wonder what exactly is causing issues.

We've been using the printer successfully for a bit now (thanks all for the help), having an issue now which i'm guessing isn't necessarily this printer specific but maybe it is.

We are printing catalogs with it, so double sided and stapled. When I print multiple copies with this option, all works well. When others print with these options it doesn't seem to spool correctly. If they print two copies (for example) it print all pages first THEN it staples so it's stapling two copies together. Plus I notice when I print on my screen where it says the # of pages printed, the # is the # of pages of the document, when others print it says the TOTAL number of pages. So for example, 10 page file, printing 10 copies of it. For me it says its printing 10 pages, for others it says its printing 100 pages. Is this a collating issue?

      thanks
      Ryan

May I ask what program your printing from? Even if it is a canon, a common windows issue is using it's built in collate feature from the 1st print dialog.. it can conflict with your print drivers built in collate/sort feature and cause weird issues.. I always use the printer's collate/sort feature (from within the drivers dialog) ... not the windows collate. (Windows collate is usually @ the first dialog when you click print).

        Regards!

          Eggzactly correct!

Different applications print differently, so YMMV when it come to collation and stapling.

For instance, a mail merge in MS Word will attempt to staple all the pages together, instead of stapling each record separately.

The only way to fix these issues (at least the only free way, anyhow), is to create a macro to resolve the issue.

Just do a Google search and see what I mean.

It's a PDF that's being printed so either FoxIt or Adobe's reader. The collate option is being done at both places. In the print driver "sorter mode" is set to "collate without shift" (the default, which I don't totally get all the options here) and the collate checkbox in the print dialog is also checked. Like I said it works fine for me on my PC, when I print the same way from someone else's PC it doesn't work.

            thanks

Be sure to uncheck the Collate button from your application.

By default in Reader or Acrobat it is turned on when you go to print.

Turning on collate in ANY Windows app is normally a bad idea when printing to any multi function device.

You want the driver to "do the driving", not the application.

also un-check Collate when using MS WORD

For whatever it may be worth, most Ricoh print drivers have an "Ignore Application Collate" check box, and it is selected by default.

I don't ever remember this being the case for Canon Fieries - it has always been a "user responsibilty", if you will.
