There is a 60 second delay for ethernet traffic on those. Are you waiting more than 60 seconds before trying to ping?
In additional functions-> system settings-> network settings-> TCP/IP-> Ping command, try pinging 10.173.205.250. If you get no reply (after the 60 second delay) then there is an issue with the copier. Once you get a reply from that try pinging the PC. If it still doesn't work lock in the LAN speed. page down while in network settings screen to find the ethernet driver settings. Turn off auto and try 100 half duplex to be safe.

Something else to keep in mind, is that the copier needs to be turned off with the main power switch on the right side of the copier after any network changes are made to it. It is not like XP and makes changes on the fly. A cold start is needed to establish the IP on the network card, and then you need to wait a minute or two for the network connection to come ready as D_L_P mentioned.. Only other possibility I can think of is if the subnets do not match.

Turn off job accounting on the devices that request user id/password. I believe it is on the Device Settings tab,, the same tab that you find Get Device Status button on it...

The issue is on the pc side of the equation, not the copier side. If you are limiting copies per ID, why not limit the prints? The id/password window is brought up on units that have the driver set up to use job accounting. If you are attempting to limit who makes what on the copier, you should require the same of them with printing. You use the same credentials to allow printing as you do to make copies. If no password is required to log onto the copier to make copies, leave that field blank on the popup window for print jobs.
