you have to have access to canon tech support, the license transfer number from the dead machine (so if it is dead then you can't accomplish this step) both device serial numbers and the original license number.
good luck!!!!
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.
We have a client with a dead 2270 that has universal send and we need to move it to a working 4570. Does anyone know how this can be done?
Thanks
Kelly
When transferring your key from one copier to another, you must make sure to disable the License Key on the imageRUNNER you are transferring from. The copier will then generate a transfer key number. You will need this number when you call the Technical Support Center to transfer the license. Please follow the procedure outlined below: 1. Enter into Service Mode on the copier (hit Additional Functions, then 2 and 8, then Additional Functions).
2. Enter Level 2 in Service Mode (hit Additional Functions, then 2).
3. Press Copier.
4. Select Option.
5. Choose LCNS-TR.
6. Set the appropriate kit option to 0 (ex. for Universal Send Kit, set ST-Send to 0). Hit OK.
7. Write down Transfer License Key (ex. TR-Send) generated by the copier under this setting.
8. Call the Technical Support Center with the device serial numbers and the Transfer License Key. * Make sure you have this number (Transfer License Key) handy when calling the TSC. This number must be provided to ensure that the License was indeed cancelled on the imageRUNNER. Contacting the Technical Support Center: Contact the Technical Support Center at 1-800-528-2830 to transfer a license from one device to another. You will be required to have the following information: 1. The serial number of the old device.
2. The serial number of the new device. (Verify that this serial number exists in your dealer inventory).
3. The Transfer Key number. To get the Transfer Key number, you will have to disable the license on the old device (see above). * Note - It is recommended that you also have the License Access Number and the old License Key Number (in addition to the device serial numbers and the Transfer License Key) when you call the TSC. These items are not required, but they can help us resolve any possible discrepancies that may arise. You only need to call the Technical Support Center to transfer the license from one machine to another machine. You do not need to call the Technical Support Center to disable the license on a given machine. Simply follow the procedure above to disable the license on your device. Write down the resulting Transfer Key Number and the serial number of the device that you disabled the license on. Also write down the License Access Number for the kit. Keep this information in a safe place. When you have the serial number for the new device that you want to transfer the kit to, then call the Technical Support Center with all of the above required information. The Technical Support Center staff can then transfer the license in the LMS system and generate a new license key number for your new device.

I never tried in 2270 but i always do with other machines. The Usend resides in the serial pcb. Just try swapping the serial pcb and counter pcb maybe it will work.

do not post false info
U CAN NOT SWAP COUNTER PCB's and Serial Pcb's

How long have u been a Tech/ 24hrs.> You need to learn about machines before u speak or post in this forum
Canon U.S.A., Inc The Counter Memory, Serial Number and Main Controller PCBs work as a set and are considered the “Soft Counter Circuit”. The Counter Memory PCB is
electronically stamped with the serial number from the Serial Number PCB. Neither the Counter Memory
PCB nor the Serial Number PCB can be swapped to other equipment
The Serial Number PCBis a matched board with the Counter Memory PCB and cannot be swapped
with any other equipment. Doing so will generate an E354 or E355 code.
It is illegal to tamper with this circuit in an attempt to falsify the counter readings of any Canon
Copier..

Let's say, I bought two machines with the same model, one with Usend the other hasn't. The one with Usend is dead (totally not working) and now I want to use that send option to my working machine. And I know for the fact that by changing or swapping the serial and counter pcb the send option will work.
BTW, LOL to that 24 hrs. No hurt feelings. We purchase canon, konika, ricoh, xerox etc machines from USA and Canada 3 containers a month. I will not say that I am an expert but I know the difficult one.
Thanks for the info anyway...more power to you teckat.

You can do any illegal things you want to those copy machines under your roof, just don't post it in these forums.

Back to the original question: Teckat posted the right process - if the 2270 is dead, what you are trying to do may not be possible using the normal process as you need to obtain the transfer key from it. At this point I guess you should call Canon and see if they will help you without the key. Not their policy, but if you are a long time/good dealer they may bend the rules. Otherwise I am afraid you have a boat anchor unless you find another 2270 and a tech willing to break the rules. Canon is really your best bet.
I agree,,, you may have to find a donor 2270 to get whatever you need to make it come to life so you can procure the transfer number. Canon does not have to do anything beyond normal support procedures, and that entails the transfer number, current serial #, new serial #.
