    More iR4570 problems

Well I thought everything was OK, after this problem I fought a couple weeks ago: http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/ca...-software.html

It turns out that their other iR4570(the one I took the good HDD out of, and then installed the new one into) hasn't been able to print since then!

It is online, it is scanning OK and the RUI comes up fine; however, if I try to Direct Print, there is a large exclamation point and the text "Cannot use the Direct Print function on this machine". I've tried different drivers from different PCs and XP/Win7/Server 08, with no difference. I'm sure this is all related, but what I'm not sure of is why???

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!
    Pete

Doesn't the Multi-PDL kit E1 also allow network printing?

Hmm...well, Copier-> ACC-STS -> PDL-FNC1 has all-4 of the left bits set to "1"s, so it looks like that is OK.

          Any other suggestions?

Yes, N Boot Rom is in, and recognized in service mode.

This copier was working perfectly fine until I took its HDD and Boot Rom and installed in it's twin iR4570 on the next floor(the one which wouldn't load system software onto the brand-new HDD). I then installed then new HDD into this iR4570(along with the Boot Rom from the other one), and successfully flashed it...or so I thought.

I also tried reinstalling system software again yesterday. The copier accepted it fine, but it made no change. It really acts as though it doesn't recognize the Multi-PDL kit, although it shows it is installed according to your directions above.

No, cannot print at all - scanning is fine though, and can access the RUI.

On your P Print this is what all your Vers .Should Read/except maybe for the Finishers

In SST u may need to RE-format the HDD/ then do select>single Boot >to update first/ then do an ALL

this series of models had a lot of issues in past with RUI/ that has already been addressed-

I would suggest that now that you have a working box that you reload the correct software, and set it to overwrite the existing software to make sure that all the files are fresh...

Could be something causing it not to print in the system software or switches of the machine. Had a problem with a ir5000 not wanting to print, after checking and reloading system software with no help, I finally did a MMI Clear and then after putting back in the IP address and the other setting, everything starting working. Have had to use the MMI clear a couple of times after that on other machine, always worked.

Make sure your CA Key isn't corrupted. Check it under System Settings/Network Settings/TCP-IP Settings/Certificate Settings. If you don't have a green light or its not installed, you will not print. Have to generate a new key.

Printer + Fax + Copier = Jack Of Many Trades,
                          but Master Of None
Color Copier = Not A Color Printer
InkJet MFP = Not A Fax Machine
                          B/W Copier = Not A Press
Finisher = Deal Closer (salesman, not accessory)
Copier Tech = Admin's Stress Ball (Scapegoat)

what key / certificate are u talking about ?

Multi-Pdl E1 Kit does not have a License Key Certificate for 4570
it included a N Boot Rom

Printer kits with boot rom-have no license

The Printer Kits for many of the newer Canon devices are LMS based. The Boot ROM on these devices will always end with a C.

I believe he is referring to the CA-Key Clear in second level of Service Mode. That can become corrupted. He is not referring to a license key, as in the LMS system...
