    IRC3380 saddle finisher y2 issue

    Hey guys,

Have a problem with with the finisher when trying to saddle stitch.

I was initially seeing E542 errors, this was because someone left a box of paper next to the lower tray and it jammed. After clearing it all out and checking it was hitting the sensor ok I stopped getting that error code.

However anything sent saddle stitch gets folded two thirds/one third, instead of down the middle and it doesn't staple it either. I swapped out the staple cartridges but it still comes out the same. But it's not throwing up any error/jams codes...

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    george

If the fold were just 1/4 or 1/2 of an inch off I'd say it could be out of adjustment. But since the fold is that far out of whack, I'd say the finisher might think it is trying to fold/staple a different size paper (legal?), when there is actually LTRr in there, or something is preventing it from going all the way to the bottom plate.

Try resetting everything by unplugging the copier from the wall and the plug going from the finisher to the copier.

Check that the copier doesn't say it has legal, when in fact there is LTRr (I'm pretty sure it would jam every time before it even got to the stapling part though).

Check that paper can freely fall to the bottom stop plate in the saddle stitch area.

Check that paper can freely fall to the bottom stop plate and that the stop plate can freely move. The stop plate might hit the home sensor (and thus not throw an error code) but get stuck when trying moving into position. It just counts clock pulses from the home sensor and has no idea where the stop plate actually is.

Had the same issue when trying A3. But after adjusting creep and staple position and running a few tests it gradually started returning to normal.

I eventually returned all the adjustments back to their defaults and it seems to be playing nice now. Very strange.... :s

Thanks for all your help guys!

Sounds like a binding assembly that finally got freed up....
