    Then u deal with dumb-ass customers/
I deal with large Corporations/ If I walked into a customers office who is having printer issues, and determine it is an HDD issue, tell them I need to replace the HDD, the next word out of their mouth is " DO NOT LEAVE THIS OFFICE WITH THAT OLD HDD" when finished.

Anything that a COMPANY prints to that has a Hard Drive in it, <Bottom Line> it belongs to the Company, be it a Copier/Printer/& or Server that is Rented/ Owner owned/ Leased/ or Borrowed.

Try telling a Government Account or State/& City Account that they can't have back that non- working HDD.
They call Your Employer ,Security & or the Police Dept. while you are still there.

Would like to share a few words.

      SST vs Cloning

Normally I use SST to flash boot ROM and/or read/write RAM data.
Use cloning tools if need to change hard disk. I kept virgin disk image of ir2200 ir2270.
It took less then a minutes to transfer 2200 disk image to new hard disk, 2 minutes to transfer 70s image to new disk throught USB 2.0 device. Both of these virgin disk will perform update..(RCon,Dc...........) at first bootup.

It is not very important who keep the old hard disk but how fast can you make a working machine after changing hard disk.

Cloning the HDD helps to enlighten my job load alot. Afterall the machine still get all version of DCcon, Rcon, MNcon, Lang...etc updated to the available as it was firstly cloned from a newly formatted HDD using SST & Firmware which was done earlier in my workshop. I don't need 45-60mins. It took just 20mins to replace the HDD then boot it up & the machine is good to roll...

Yep, 20mins to remove, replace, boot it up, test it (copy/print/fax/send) & leave customer permises smiling all the way to the next destination....

One for all at field service.

Normally I have a new HDD inside service box, and will try to put this HDD to all machine that uses 2.5" HDD. ie IR 400,600,2200,2270, ,, XEROXsss, .... Recently had replaced IR400 printer HDD with a 160GB SAMSUNG HDD. It is not a waste, as least job completed in single visit.

                Disk utilities/tools.

The disk image contain data with selected area only. Making it possible to create a working disk in 2 minutes for xx70 machine through USB2.0 device. If we try to clone entire physical disk, will take up at least 20 minutes for desktop IDE, 40 minutes for USB 2.0 device to transfer 20 GB Disk image and hence unsuitable for field service.
Last, the disk utilities software able to fix or analise disk error.

                  Re: canon ir2270 hdd.

Most of us all know there are security issues and HDD buy backs what does this have to do with INSTALLING a cloned Hard drive the one coming out of the machine is defective give it back to the customer and charge them for new one were not talking about updating when installing a cloned Hard drive...
