Is the problem interrmittant or comes up every time when you turn the copier on?

You'll need to remove the fuser from the copier and inspect it to see if it is binding up making it difficult for the fuser drive motor to turn it. Lubricate any gears thet are gummed up and not turning well. Pay special attention to the swing plate assy. Also check for frozen bearings, flat spots on lower fuser roller, or anything else that can restrict fuser movement.

If that doesn't fix it - you may need a new motor - but that is almost never the case.

I am pretty sure that Blaze has provided you the answer, the swing plate on the front to the fuser has the input drive gears on it,,, the shafts/gears get gummed up making the fuser very hard to turn, causing the E014 you described. Pull it apart, clean and lube the gear pivots. I use automatic transmission fluid instead of oil,, it never gums up!

Very interesting tip - that transmission fluid. Curious -Do you still use oil at all in the copier to lubricate other stuff?

You might also want to look into the solenoid that control the rotation of the web supply roll. Assess it from the from, hidden in the frame cover....good luck....

I use the tranny fluid as my only oil type lubricant,,, this advice came from one of my Canon instructors, many years ago...

While it is a good idea to check on this web advance mechanism once in awhile, especially the 550 and 5000 series machines,, the web advance has no bearing on the E014 problems...

                  Re: cannon error code e014

Upgrade!! Obviously Canon instructors don't know much...transmission fluid is a poor lubricant...its purpose is to transmit hydraulic pressure. Put some Ford transmission fluid into a GM turbo-hydramatic and tell me if it shifts good...... NOT.... Different fluids have different frictional properties. I started as a mechanic back in 1982.
