iR2018 fuser replacement... Repost for mnamono

This is the repost from an email received from member mnamono

    Hi Mr Fixit51,
I want to replace the fixing on my canon ir2018 but don't know where it is located. Can you start me off on the right track.....if you can send me a service manual or a technical diagram.....I could do it myself. Or tell me where to find the fixing film.

    Many thanks....

That fuser is located inside the left hand door and is not that difficult to remove if you are a technician and have access to a service manual...but everything in that fuser is made of some of the flimsiest plastic I have ever seen in a Canon fuser. In fact I just rebuilt one this morning. Very easy to damage that fuser taking it apart if you are not experienced on that model. I would advise against him attempting that repair. He'd have better luck buying the fuser assy and swapping it out. Less risk of damage.

Here's a link if he wants parts to rebuild that unit http://www.precisionroller.com/all-s.../products.html

Screwtape was already kind enough to post diagrams of dissassembly for him in another post. http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/ca...placement.html

        Thanks a million Gents.
A special one to screwtape for the diagram. Took me 2 long hours just to get it replaced. But I did it. Thanks to you all. The copier is back in full swing.
Now I feel that thwe next replacement should take less then an hour.

        Again.........Thanks guys
