    E0001-0004 on C3220

Canon IRC3220, fuser rollers look fine so I thought thermistor but someone told me they've never had to replace a thermistor on these units???? I'm fairly new to the color models, so any help would be appreciated.

was there a paper jam before code ?

U could have paper jammed inside upper fuser roller blocking thermistor face/
difficult to see in upper cavity

Release -the pressure release handle & turn white rear gear on fuser

Inspect and check for cracked or damaged fixing connector
    / also clean if ok!
after inspection / try and clear error in service mode

    COPIER>FUNCTION<CLEAR>ERR
    Clears error codes.
    (Cleared error codes: E000, E001, E002, E003, E719)
    Operation
    1) Select this item, and press the OK key.
    method
    2) Turn the main power OFF/ON.

Most likely you just replace the fuser unit when it starts acting up.

Does the error return after a reset? If not, just let it be.

Yes, can't get 1 copy of of it. Went ahead and put new unit in the field, but am trying to repair this one to have on hand. Goes into code upon powering up. Can get into service mode and clear error, but same thing when turning it back on.

u better check the fixing connectors/
Check fuser door switches MSW 5/6

they must close at same time/ make sure metal arm is not bent
when u push that black plunger / u should hear and see switches close together
            FU.JPG

            sw.JPG

check your Fuse Pcb / could have low voltage thru FU20 =24V
the fuses must be exact voltage/ continuity means nothing on this board
if u can't get machine up to test fuse board/ replace it -they are cheap

I think I'm safe in assuming that the problem is with the fuser unit itself. The copier in the field is working fine now with a new unit, but any copier I put this unit in throws the code.

Just some background knowledge, the same area in Teckat's pictures can cause E004 errors when you pull out the fuser to retrieve a jam. This is not a normal condition. The area of the sensors in the picture, over time will get fogged with waste toner. Blow out that area and the E004's go away...
