IR8500 Paper wrinkle

Hi everyone,

After copying about 100 pages, my recently bought IR8500 showing this kind of problem.

Ive faced this problem with my laser printer before, which is HP 2200, so i changed it heating element to solve the problem. Is this the same concept with IR85?

it could be either the bushes on the both ends of the heater roll or the lower roller . Check on those and you will find your problem

Is your paper in good shape...moisture free?

Your 8500 and the HP-2200 are slightly different in the time it takes to rebuild the fuser, which this could easily be a worn out bushing or ground down shaft from a frozen or slipped bearing. You can open unit 1 and turn the green knob on the left. While turning make sure you are watching the fuser rollers to see if they are wobbling during rotation.

Also verify that the company you bought this unit from did not have spacer screws in the fuser during shipment.

That just looks like damp paper .. Much problem double siding? If so Def damp paper .. Assuming wrinkle is in direction of travel..

I think, first of all, that you should eliminate any paper issue by trying another paper quality type.
otherwise,the problem is definitely in the fixing assy.

Sometimes techs re-assemble upper fuser roll assembly incorrectly and the bearing falls out of place,or pressure roll and bearings are worn out. That is a very pronounced crease,something is not right,not just damp paper. My city has the highest humidity in Canada in summer and have never seen creases on a PROPERLY operating 8500 from damp paper

Fixed the problem. It is because of the damp paper. Here in Malaysia, we cant leave paper inside the machine for more than 3 days, otherwise it would be too damp to be used. Thanks all. =D

is it two sided copy or single sided?
some time the paper guide at the paper entrance to the fusing unit also can cause this problem when it
dirt or not adjusted propperly.

Fixing assembly,
Check Paper guide
If the paper guide is soiled with toner or the like-
Clean the guide with solvent.
Is the height (position) of the paper guide correct-?
Adjust the height (position) of the paper guide.

Lower roller pressure, Upper/Lower roller pressure
Is the lower roller pressure (nip width) as indicated?
U need to Adjust the nip width.
Replace the upper and lower rollers at the same Time.

I take out the fixing unit, check the bushing on rear side and find out it been turned to ash...
Problem solved.

The only problem exist is that, when doing duplex, 1st side margin is ok, 2nd side totally misaligned. I think in Y direction. This one, I really dont have any idea how to solve it. -_-'

On the right hand side of the duplex assembly, is a horizontal registration assembly. A motor driven rack with a sensor on it to register the edge of the paper. The gear on the motor develops a crack that screws up the operation. try replacing that motor...
