iR6020 thumping noise and processing unit stuck

Good evening. Our customer has a iR6020 with over 1 million copies. When making more them 20 copies and after it warms up, it makes a thumping sound. This sound is ONLY produced when it is making copies, not during the initial warm up. I have manually turned the fixing assembly, the paper feed, and the registration rollers, they all have smooth movemt. I tried to pull out the processing assembly to inspect it, but it's stuck (and yes, I have removed the two screws in accordance with the service manual). Any assistance would be deeply appreciated. Thanks.

That is something I will have to look at. About the processing unit being stuck, according to the service manual you have to disconnect 4 connectors and 2 screws. What about the screw in the center of the drum?

more than likely your auger is broken in the cleaner assembly from hard toner build up. This is what is causing your noise. On the AP unit being stuck....make sure your developer is out of the machine first remove fan assembly unplug your connectors and you need to take out 3 screws. Yes the one on the drum shaft and the keeper needs to come out as well.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

Thanks. I found the problem, it's a clutch (CL1) on the main drive assembly. Also a bearing on the pre-registration shaft was worn out. I replaced both bearings and waiting for a new main drive assembly. I would replace the clutch by itself, but if it is the same as on the iR2200, I'll change the whole assembly. Again, thanks.

Correction to my last post. Charm5496 got me in the ball park. I was hard toner build up on the cleaning blade. That and replacing the bearings in the pre-registration resolved the problem. Thanks to all for the assistance.

I would still Check the auger as Charm Suggested .. If it is bunged up the problem will reoccur. Easiest way is to remove the waste toner container , Push in the toner bottle top and Do 20 copies . If waste toner can be seen dropping then all is well If not you have a Dirty problem..
