could be the toner cartridge or the toner drive assembly. See below:

The Black toner feed motor was wired incorrectly causing the motor to operate in reverse. Toner would be augered away from the opening instead of toward it. The part number for the toner cartridge drive assembly is FG6-8999-000.
    * The assembly is more cost effective than the motor.

Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

        error code E020-04d0

This is what your error code is referring to and it is the black drum or toner that is affected.

The supply of toner for the toner
        container to the developing assembly
        has failed. The toner
        cartridge motor fails to rotate.
        The toner container is empty.
The toner supply mouth of the
drum unit is damaged. The ATR
        sensor has an open circuit.
For the first 2 digits of detail
        code xxEE,
xx=00: fault in access to drum
        unit
xx=01: fault in access to toner
        container

The fault occurs when an image is being
formed and, in addition, when the T/D ratio
drops while 20 prints are being made
continuously. It is detected when toner
        supply operation is started.

Good luck and if all else fails call a Canon authorized tech
