    [CQ] Light Copies

Our IR5070 has light copies in AE mode and manual. I can make it darker by dropping the dev. bias. We changed the transfer corona. I am leaning toward replacing the charge. The only other thing is that the pin that opens the laser shutter is broken off. I replaced it with a screw. Any help would be appreciated.

more than likelyl that screw you put in is not opening the shutter all the way. you could manually open the shutter and hold it in place or order a new duct with the proper pin to keep it open.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

I'm not sure if Canon has lowered their standards or what but developer cylinders aren't what they used to be. I've fixed many light copy problems with the 5570's and 5055's by replacing the developer cylinder. If a test page 7 looks grey even after restringing coronas I replace the dev cylinder (sometimes 2x) then #7 should look nice and black.

Not trying to be the copier police, but in my experience with older NP's when we disabled the pot control and moved the wire closer it shortened the life of the drum considerably.

Don't run it with Potential Control turned off...crappy unstable output. Fix the shutter actuator then go from there. The linkage gets bent on these also. Reseat the laser assembly also. These machines had issues with lasers not seated properly
