Book says its FM3, the heat discharge fan which according to the diagrams is the fan in the back center on the bottom frame under the ozone filter but that fan as well as the feeder fan and the cooling fan in fuser area are fine. Anybody ever get codes for one fan only to have it turn out to be another. I have a bad feeling this machine may have gotten water in a flood last year. I'm going back tomorrow or Monday to check fan on power supply and play detective.

seen this a few times before on the CLC 4000"s Fans- pointing to a working fan/fix was replaced front door switch / had short
    U probably have a 24v drop somewhere/ pinched wire tie ?

here is a stupid test/ turn off printer >keep front door open > then key up printer with door open> power up printer> will probably pop the e805> pull out key> see if machine says close door

Even though the fan works, it's still bad. I brought a different fan that had the same type connector even though the wiring was different and got the copier to ready. I left it plugged in til I get back with the right fan. Plug the old one back in and it codes out. Pulling the interlock after the code didnt change anything. If I'm right, these fans have a clock pulse back to the dc controller and that must be the problem.

        Hi Brian,
U should have received a "close door" when u pulled out interlock !

Anyway these FANS have 2-speed control (voltage) 24/12v, so even though the Fan was on , one of those control voltages was not being recognized- all eight fans have the same control voltages.

They show Full speed & half speed operations in chart

I didnt get a close door message when I pulled the interlock, the E805 stayed up there. The code wouldnt pop right up at power up, but at completion of warmup. Anyway, I thought it may be the clock signal being missing but as long as I get it fixed.

            good luck~~~~~~~~~
when u fix it, try that interlock move, if close door still does not show, printer does not see an interruption in the 24v supply

As u can see above those fans need to cycle between 24v-12v = full speed/half speed at different intervals/

It does give me a close door message if I pull the interlock before it codes out but not once it goes into the code. Once they code out, the code becomes the priority message.

Yes 3-wire fans monitor rotation. A new fan will probably fix it.

Replaced fan. Put it in the books! All fixed. FYI fan comes without wiring but in this case the wiring was ok.
