    8070 op panel freezes

I went to this today and could not duplicate it. I did a low level format 1 & 9 at power up and an HDD check through service mode. Watched it for nearly an hour with not even a hint of locking up. Customer says that after a copy run unit goes to rest then the operations panel is unusable (frozen). They turn it off then back on and it runs fine. Knowledge base was useless and Navi made mention of the problem in the 8500 case history. Not sure if it was for this model but going to try a few things tomorrow.

Was hoping maybe someone has seen something similar and can give me some direction.

This machine has been plagued with gremlins for a long time and some of the weirdest shit I have ever seen. The last thing I found here was the e-clip that holds the belt pulley in place on the stapler mount kit. It had worn the e-clip slot completely off the post causing E532 codes. it only has 860,000 copies on it.

Thanks in advance for anything you do for me

      Nope

No Rip installed on this machine. Its networked but straight into the grid. NAVI had a few suggestions but at this point not sure what direction this is going to go. Wish me luck today

Checked the knowledge base and didn't see much that would go along with your problem.May have to start unplugging connectors and cutting wire ties.Seems to be the theme for Canon these days.Good luck, post what you find.

          Well here we are

I have yet to make it back o this customer but, it sounds like there might be a good chance that the controller or the hard drive may be suspect. Will be replacing the HD this week or next. Will follow up on how it turns out.
