    right this is the update .....couldnt do p print on original call because screen woulnt boot up, fitted main controller which solved that problem but then no copy or express copy tab...coulnt check err history be cause its cleared,,,,BuT turns out engineer before had noted down some err history and shows e400 and e225...which im hoping is root to all the problems so i have ordered reader controller pcb

      Forgot to note this/
      found in old paper work
      from 5180 series/may apply to your printer

      Copy" and "Send" tabs are not displayed on LCD display ~~~~~~
      Check your Communication cable (I/F) of Reader to Printer for damage or connection fit.
      **Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**

        thanks for help on this one sorry no conclusion machine been pulled out,,last response from canon was to change reader pcb...if poss will do at later date and repost results ..thks again

            copier sorted!!!!! replaced reader controller pcb which got feeder to appear in service mode then got error e225 replaced ribbon cable to lamp input values and hey presto it works!!! Very strange fault or faults!! thanks for input to all..
