    imageprograf w7200 firmware update troubles

How do you update the firmware when machine won't go into service mode and just displays error code? I know there is a file you can use or a way to trick the machine, but can't seem to remember.

This is a W7200. We really need version 2.12.

    Thanks

Last IPF I worked on was an 8000 and that was almost 2 years ago. Seems though that it is not service mode but download mode you want - soooooo, checked on Canon

    Question :
How do you enter the Download Mode on the imagePROGRAF printers?

    Answer :
For earlier W2200-Series models: (First, power off the printer)</U>
Press and hold the UTILITY + SETUP + RESET buttons simultaneously, then press the POWER button. Release the buttons when the message "FIRMWARE UPDATE" appears in the display.

For iPF W6200/8200 series models: (First, power off the printer)</U>
Press and hold the PAPER SOURCE + ENTER + ONLINE buttons simultaneously, then press the POWER button. Release the buttons when the message "DOWNLOAD MODE" appears in the display.

For iPF W6400/8400 series models: (First, power off the printer)</U>
Press and hold the INFORMATION + STOP + OK buttons simultaneously, then press the POWER button. Release the buttons when the message "FIRMWARE UPDATE" appears in the display.

For iPF models PRIOR to the iPF650/655/750/755: (First, power off the printer)</U>
    1) Press and hold the STOP & INFORMATION buttons simultaneously, then press the POWER button. Release the buttons when the message "INITIALIZING" appears in the display.
    2) When "DOWNLOAD MODE/SEND FIRMWARE" appears in the display, transfer the Firmware.

For the iPF650/655/750/755 series:(First, power off the printer)</U>
    1) Press and hold the STOP & NAVIGATE buttons simultaneously, then press the POWER button. Release the buttons when the message "INITIALIZING" appears in the display.
    2) When "DOWNLOAD MODE/SEND FIRMWARE" appears in the display, transfer the Firmware.

Okay, updated firmware, all went fine. Strange thing is that if you do NOT put margins in a custom size setting of 36 x 24 you get wide bands of black print randomly on pages. Add margin and works perfect. Very strange these here beasts I'd say!
