[Error Code] About to pull my hair out, tech. issues, Imagerunner C3220

Hey guys, heard you were a good resource from a copier buddy of mine. First off, I am an IT guy not a copier tech, so I am versed in a lot of this stuff but when I come into these kinds of issues, I have to turn to you guys because Canon can't tell me whats wrong.
Machine is a Canon Imagerunner C3220. My customer bought it at an auction and of course, the admin username and password were not included. I had a canon dealer tech out there and they removed the username/password to the machine. Great. Now I can program it. So I get into it via the GUI on I.E & Firefox and when I try to login to the Fiery unit it runs me through a java app, and asks me for the password (user:admin, pw:Fiery.1) all it does it dead end me at either a gray or black screen. I called the dealer up and he told me to press the right hand arrow button on the copier to troubleshoot and it wont come up with what he wants, it comes up to an ecopy sharescan op menu to which it cant find its server end apparently... so he then tells me the fiery is screwed up because it doesn't have the ecopy peripheral. He tells me to disconnect the fiery and just run the printer without it. We go into service mode and change the INT-FACE to 0(or 1 I think, not 3 for the fiery) OK. I got the IP address and everything changed to what I needed and the customers computer now has the correct drivers. EXCEPT when I try to print to it I get an error code NG #853 to which I looked up and it looks like not enough memory in the printer. I tried to disable the spooler service on the printer and cannot find that option in this model. I also researched bootrom information and this might be my problem as well. The bootrom is 70.01C which to my understanding means copier only correct? I tried calling Canon and they told me to call the dealer and my dealer said he doesn't know any more. (I also tried calling a Canon service rep that a kind customer service lady gave me and he won't call me back.) So my question to you guys is: Is the fiery necessary to network print then? Is the proper networking boot rom stored in the fiery or is it in the printer itself? Is there anyway to get around this? Is the customer just screwed if the fiery isn't working? He already paid $900 for this thing and had to pay $200 more to a canon tech that really didn't fix anything, if he has to pay even more to get the fiery fixed or get a new one, its not really worth it in my opinion(right?), he might as well buy a new one. ARGHH!! So I am really stressed out and don't need my hair graying out any more sooner that it already will be...really looking for help here...first printer to throw me for a loop in 11 years....

    First off>
u have a C boot rom- which is for the imagePass C1/C2 Fiery
    that setting is COPIER>OPTION<INT-FACE>IMG-CONT>"3"

If u want to remove the Fiery- u need to purchase a Multi=PDL Printer KIT A2 that has a N boot rom & a interface Pcb. in the kit
    .

    Optional Accessories

    A. Color Network Multi-PDL Printer Kit-A2 (Optional)
This Canon controller provides printing functionality to the general office user.
It is suitable for everyday office use, and is most appropriate when only a few
(less than five) people are sharing the device, using text-intensive Microsoft
Office applications and with a relatively low print volume. This controller is not
appropriate for those using Macintosh operating systems.
    B. imagePASS-C1 v.2 (Optional)
The imagePASS-C1 v. 2 is a piggyback print controller suitable when five or
more people are sharing the device using primarily Adobe applications, with a
    relatively large print volume requirement.
    C. ColorPASS-Z3000 (Optional)
Canon’s ColorPASS-Z3000, an external controller for the Color
imageRUNNER C3220, is designed for the light production and graphics
markets. The ColorPASS-Z3000 is not compatible with the Color imageRUNNER C2620.
    D. Color Universal Send (Optional)
Universal Send makes it simple to convert color hard-copy documents into
digital files for sending to one or many destinations. With this feature, the end-user can scan, save and instantly send documents in any of five file formats, including JPEG, TIFF, PDF and compact PDF.
Note: The Color Universal Send function requires a dongle when installed on the Color imageRUNNER C2620/C3220

    Sending Function (optional)*
*The optional Color Universal Send Kit and Resolution Switching Board are required. Also, the optional Color Image Reader-C1 (standard equipment on the Color imageRUNNER C3220
    Copier model) must be attached.
    Faxing (optional)*
*The optional Super G3 FAX Board and Resolution Switching Board are required.
Also, the optional Color Image Reader-C1 (standard equipment on the Color imageRUNNER C3220
    Copier model) must be attached.
    Printing (optional)*
You can upgrade this machine to a high-speed network printer by installing the optional Color Network Multi-PDL Printer Kit. This kit incorporates UFR (Ultra Fast Rendering) Technology.
It also supports PS and PCL at maximized speeds.
Alternatively, installing the optional imagePASS (PS controller) enables you to use the machine not only as a PostScript printer when loaded with Adobe PostScript 3 software, but also as an emulation printer of PCL5.
imagePASS is an optional PS (PostScript) controller that is attached to the back of the
    machine.
*The optional imagePASS and Color Network Multi-PDL Printer Kit cannot be installed at the same time.

    NG #853
    -Using the wrong printer driver.
-The machine does not have the proper printer kit installed (e.g. UFR, PCL, PS kit(s).
-The print job did not print because due to lack of resources on the printer (e.g. memory, HD space, etc).
-Print spooler on the machine is full.
-The number of secure print jobs have exceeded the maximum limit that can be reserved at this time.

    Remedy--
-Make sure that the printer driver that you’re using is the correct one for the operating system on the computer that you are printing from and specific to the printer model that you’re printing
    to.
-Check and verify that the correct and the required printer kit is Installed (e.g. UFR, PCL, PS kit(s).
-Reduce the number of pages to print.
-Erase unnecessary jobs that are stuck or in reserve.
-Turn off spooler on the printer, ADDITIONAL FUNCTION > SYSTEM SETTINGS > NETWORK SETTINGS > USER SPOOLER, set this value to OFF.
-Print out or erase secured print jobs that are stored or waiting to be printed on the machine.
-Try printing again when other jobs have completed printing.
**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**

      Thanks

Thank you Teckat for posting a very detailed response. I will try to get this thing up and running now that I have a clue of what's going on. You have told me what Canon cannot. I greatly appreciate that. Again, Thanks.
