UST Firmware
To start the UST to load System Software
When reaching the point where the download instructions state to "Start up the UST", you must go to the sub-directory where the SSW is stored and choose the EXE file. When you double click on the EXE file the UST will open.
This machine can be upgraded by downloading system software programs from the personal computer (hereafter called as the PC) in which a user support tool (hereafter called UST) has been loaded.
The option can be upgraded by downloading system software programs from the personal computer (hereafter called as the PC) in which a service support tool (hereafter called SST) has been loaded.
System software programs and upgrade tools are listed in the following table:
Main unit System (main controller) UST The main controller also controls the reader.
Boot (boot program) UST Boot program is upgraded automatically at the same time with System version up.
Option Fin_U2 (Finisher-U2) SST+Downloader PCB Dedicated service tool (Downloader PCB: FY9-2034)
Refer to finisher service manual about the method of version up.
1) Turn on the power switch of the PC and start UST.
2) When the power switch is turned on, the Found New hardware Wizard appears. Click "Cancel".
3) Press the Additional Functions key on the control panel of this machine to enter into the user mode.
4) Press the down-arrow key to select "System Settings", and then press the OK key.
5) Press the down-arrow key to select "Update Firmware", and then press the OK key.
6) When "OK to update" appears, select “Yes” and then press the OK key.

I have USB hook up... it picks the ir2318 with no problem, but when its time to Register Firmware within SST, it says cant find Firmware.
I think i need a link to download ir2318/2320 Firmware file. HELP...!!Comment

Firmware for these models do not utilize the SST. That is why they are not recognized when you tried to load them into SST. The files are executable, and launch a built in tool. This tool is referred to as UST, (Canon User Support Tool). They utilize a USB cable between the laptop and the copier..."Once a King, always a King, but once a Knight is enough!"

I get it...! I do have the UST But the copier should be in Service Mode to install firmware, Yes! That is the problem, i cant go into service mode with the #28#. The screen is just stuck on "Update Fimware' Bios Mode' Wait Updating F/W'
I have tried to use keys on panel but all the keys are non-responsive, except the screen just shows the function of a key when you press it. This copier surely needs a bios or firmware re-load from scratch. Any ideas..!Comment

where did u get that #28# from ?? your service manual ???
on your model don't u need to use the USB connection to load Firmware
install the BOOTROM" files first/
after that is done install the "BOOTABLE / System File/ the DCON File
