Check both sides of all the door switches for voltage. A switch that is failing will drop the supplied voltage 3 to 5 vdc. Replace the switch. Check both SW4 (Left front cover switch) and SW5 (Delivery Cover switch).

when u pull off covers to check switches, make sure they close correctly - when door is shut

Check the Transfer Cleaning Assembly , The housing could be warped or the bearings could be seizing which may cause the error.

    E020 could be many things/ what is sub-code ??

it is tough to get support on a 9 year old printer, that is not supported by Canon
this CLC1100 Series has too many issues to go over on a support site
E072 can be caused by many issues>

DC fuse board,Transfer Driver PCB, Transfer Driver Motor or the associated Transfer Driver wiring harness it may be necessary to replace the DC Driver PCB.

Your Drum cleaning blade unit could be locking u Transfer Drum

PREVENTING E072 - this is an old pub.

There is a possibility that the E072 error code can be caused by an accumulation of toner or starter inside the Transfer Frame Connector 2 (J544). This connector supplies the signals for the Transfer Drum Cleaning Assembly. If the E072 error code is encountered try cleaning any toner or starter that may have built up in or around this connector, which is located at the rear of the copier and at the rear of the Transfer Frame Assembly.

                Male Transfer Frame Connector 2
located at the rear of Transfer Frame Assembly

the transfer drawer connector becomes more prone to poor connection and breakage/ In some cases, communication failure with the main unit results in error E071/E072 being displayed.

U could also have a bad FUSE BOARD/
FU903 on the DC FUSE PCB

U can short out the start signal for Polishing Cleaner Motor M8, because the start timing sometimes locks up the Transfer Drum
think it is from the two pin
24v RED line to the Orange two pin connector

check that copper tab plate to Transfer Drum Gear/ it bends out of position
