The customer's computers can still send and receive Email successfully using the same Email Server. The Canon device can still successfully ping the IP address of the Email Server.
Solution :
The IP address of the Email Server may have been entered for the SMTP Server setting on the Canon device in order to avoid any possible problems that may arise from the DNS name resolution.

Using the IP address of the Email Server for the SMTP Server setting is a good way to troubleshoot Email issues (ex. name resolution problems) and can be used as the permanent configuration, as long as the Email Server uses a static IP address that will not change.
If the IP address of the Email Server is changed, then the Email function will stop working until the Canon device's configuration is updated with the Email Server's new IP address. This can happen if the Email Server uses DHCP to obtain its IP address. If the Email server uses DHCP and the Email Server is rebooted (and its lease has expired), a new IP address may be automatically assigned to the Email Server.
If the Email Server's IP address has changed, a #752 error code may occur when you try sending an Email from the Canon device.
Other error codes are also possible. In addition, your troubleshooting efforts may be misled, as the Canon device will still be able to ping the former IP address of the Email Server, if that IP address has been reassigned to a different computer.
To avoid difficulties in an environment where the Email Server's IP address may change (ex. DHCP), consider using the Fully Qualified Domain Name (ex. mail01.sales.fakecompany.com) of the Email Server for the Canon device's SMTP Server setting. The Canon device must be configured with the IP address of at least 1 DNS Server (that is capable of resolving this name to the proper IP address). In this configuration, as long as the DNS Server's records are kept up to date, the Canon device should not be affected when the IP address of the Email Server changes.
