We can not measure toner life with time.

-How many copies machine make with toner bottle?
    -What do you printing? (%%%%%%)
    -Is it print too dark?
-Do you have hooper issue(toner leaking)?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

      normal use

      it's about 7500 sheets for 1kg. usually 20000sheets/kg ( sometimes more ).
      only text copy.

2 years ago i found this trouble on NP 6050.
i forgot to plug the erase lamp.
      1kg for 5000 sheets.

well what work has been done to the machine lately? You may want to revisit that work and make sure it was done correctly
Are you using genuine Canon toner? Off brand toner is not reliable and could be causing an issue.

The 30,000 sheet estimate for this machine is based on 6% coverage and if you have a lot of bold text or the page is full of text then your coverage will be much higher than the 6%.

If you are not having any CQ issues you may want to have a tech come out to make sure that the machine is running within spec. Also are these copies or prints? Even though you are outputting just text when copying or printing in text mode your image will come out much darker than setting it on publication on the print side or text/photo on the copy side.

and your image quality is fine? Just want to make sure of that and that no other service mode settings were adjsuted beween when the machine was running "normal" and now.

My former employer was quite the bean counter. I'm sure many techs remember "TSON". Anyway, here is a ss of the manual explaining the toner save.
