Hopefully one of the more experienced Canon techs here could clarify this, as I am referencing a different model (ir3235 very different, I know.) My problem was the same as you describe (no display but green power light) however I did not cause or was not there when the error occurred. On this model there is 2 pins on the controller board that you can short to reset it. Has fixed 2 machine for me.
Like I said initially, hopefully a real Canon technician can confirm or not. I may very well be leading you up the wrong path here so check into it before you attempt anything.
