C3170 reads letterR and legal as 11x17

I have a C3170 that runs Letter fine, but when you have a LetterR or Legal in feeder, it takes original partially in then stops and asks for 11x17 paper. This is specific to the copier not the feeder as we have changed feeders and same problem. If you force it to select the right paper, it only copies the bottom right corner of the original......any ideas. Copying from glass works fine.

Performing a Tray Width adjustment will correct this issue.

The adjustment is performed through the control panel of the copier.

To perform the DF Tray Width adjustment:
    • enter Service mode, Level 1, by pressing * 2 8 *.
    • then select FEEDER > FUNCTION
    • under FUNCTION highlight TRY-LTR
    • on the DF tray move the tray width guides to the LTR/11x17 positon
    • now on the display press OK
    • then under FUNCTION highlight TRY-LTRR
    • on the DF tray move the tray width guides to the STMT/LTRR/LGL position
    • once again, press OK on the display
    • press the Reset key twice to end service mode
    • turn OFF the power switch at the Control Panel and then the main power switch in that order. Then turn the main power switch back on to lock the settings into service mode.
