Funny Thing is > there are no ERROR CODES that pertain to the HVT on this model

really? I swear it seems like they have an error code for everthing else...something tells me I'm going to be digging a little deeper into it's guts...

I've never messed around with the HVT system, are there any safety issues? Does it store a charge anywhere?

          no checks

ATVC Control (transfer bias level correction)
The ATVC control mechanism is used to determine the optimum level of transfer voltage for transfer of images from the photosensitive drum to the ITB, and from the ITB to paper.
The level of transfer voltage is corrected in relation to changes in temperature/humidity, deterioration of rollers, and types of paper.
          Description of Control
          1. A reference voltage is applied to the transfer roller, and the level of current that occurs in response is checked by the high-voltage PCB and communicated to the CPU on the DC controller PCB as feedback.
          2. The machine executes transfer using a transfer voltage which is the result of correction by the CPU.
Primary transfer Applies a reference voltage to the primary charging roller.
Uses the high-voltage PCB (HV-2) to check the level of current, and the result is fed back to the CPU for determination of the optimum level.

Cool, thanks for the diagram...if nothing else this problem has given me an excuse to really dig in deep. Thanks again for all the help...I for one really appreciate it, hopefully my next post will be that it's fixed!

Well it's not quite fixed but it's getting there... r and r the HV-2 as per teckat and now it produces an image...not a very good one but it's a start Thank you teckat for all your help! and now on to my weekend...

Hooray! Finally worked it all out...For the final hurdle I had to center the lasers cammed gear to fix a registration problem...once again many thanks to teckat, you sir are indeed the man!
