    Canon c3220 network error

Hey everyone, before I get a lot of complaints on here about this issue being talked about on here... i've done quite a few searches and looked at all the threads (going through the steps explained etc) but I still cant get my printer to work.

    1. the C2 has FF in the Diag Screen
    2. When I hit the printer button in the control panel and hit the status/settings button it asks me to "wait a moment", after a long moment... it just goes back to the status/settings button screen.
    3. When I hit the Additional Functions key > System Settings >Network Settings > TCP/IP settings > I only have the options for SNTP and use Pasiv FTP buttons

Regardless of what I try to enter the network settings manually... i simply cant get the "printer status" to come up.

I've tried shorting the CMOS, FF still displays (not sure if thats even an error code, i couldnt find it on here anywhere and I don't have the manual to the c3220)

I hired a tech to check out the device and he told me i needed a part (never specified which part) told me it would be $661 bucks plus his labor etc.

I got a second guy to check it out and he told me it would be $995 for the parts plus labor.

Only problem is both fellows won't specify on which "part" exactly they have to replace and both pointed out two different "general" areas where the part would be (feels fishy) i'm pretty sure I can get someone here to help me out.

I've run all the diagnostics (via the Service Menu) and everything says OK!
(except for the Ping test which simply says NG!) --- by the way looked up what NG! on here means but I can't find it either.

Any help would be appreciated. I hope I can turn this into a DIY fix and save myself some cash from a few shady techs.

BOOT ROM must be the C ver.
With the C2 Fiery , your network settings need to be put in under Printer Tab

That said,in Service mode>IMG-CONT needs to be set at "3" /
    under Copier>Display>Option>INT-FACE>IMG-CONT
    IMG CONT.JPG

To identify a crossover cable, compare the connectors or ends of the cable. The wire color sequence will be crossed at positions 1 and 3, and positions 2 and 6. A 'normal', 'straight-through', or 'drop' cable will have identical wiring color sequences on both ends.

Note: You do not have to use the cables shipped from Canon. You can use any CAT5 (crossover and straight
    through) Ethernet cables.

    Check your-Cross Over Cable Position

    Check your -Network Cable Position

-Give your laptop an ip address of 10.255.255.1 with a sub-net mask of 255.255.255.0. Disconnect the crossover cable from the imagePASS and connect it to your laptop's network interface. Your laptop will now be connected to the copier via the crossover cable. Try to ping the copier's ip address (10.255.255.2). If you get successful replies, the problem is most likely on the imagePASS side. If the copier fails to reply, the problem is most likely on the copier side. - Give your laptop an ip address of 10.255.255.2 with a sub-net mask of 255.255.255.0. I think you have to change IMG-CONT back to 0, in order to give the copier an IP address
