Here is further information for you:

Problem :
E218 code. The code continues to occur even after the Scanning Lamp has been replaced.

Solution :

Try the following:

• Check J1003 on the Lamp Inverter PCB to determine if the voltage to the lamp is missing.
• If the voltage at J1003 is missing, then check J1001, pins 1 & 2, for 40 volts and J1002 for the proper signals coming from the Reader Controller. If the measurements are correct at J1001 and J1002, then replace the Lamp Inverter PCB.
• If 40 volts is missing at J1001 of the Lamp Inverter PCB, it may be necessary to replace the Lamp Inverter Power PCB and / or the Relay PCB.
• If the signals at J1002 of the Lamp Inverter PCB are incorrect, it may be necessary to replace the Reader Controller.
• Try reseating the connectors for the PCB's previously mentioned before replacing them.
• Also, check the wiring visually and with continuity checks between all of the previously mentioned PCB's.
