    [Dead] iR8070

    Problem...
    I have an ImageRUNNER 8070

The copier works fine as a copier. The copier will not work as a printer. The computer will not recognize it on the network. I have changed ethernet cables, connected it directly to the computer, used a different computer and it still will not work.

The weird thing is, when I hooked it directly up to a different computer, it did print a windows test page fine. After that it stopped working completely.

Does anyone have any idea as to what may be going on? We have 2 other copiers hooked to the network. an Image RUNNER 6000 and a Ricoh Pro 906ex, those two work fine.

First thing is, did it ever print properly? Was it hooked up to your network? Have you configured the ethernet connection to be able to see the device on the network? Does it have the optional Multi-PDL Printer Kit-F1 installed?

Can you ping the copier address successfully? Can you access the copier's RUI from a PC on the network?

No. Cannot ping the copier, and the copier cannot ping the computer. I cannot access the ui from a webpage. Tried on both windows 7 and xp pro.

I can't recall if the 8070 has an integrated Ethernet port, or if it has a card plugged into the main controller. The next step for me would be crossover cable from laptop to the copier to sort out the network issues, eliminating the customers network as a possible cause. Another tack might be to set the laptop up with the same IP address as the copier and place it into the customer network instead of the copier to see if that address can now be pinged. You may be looking at the card or the main controller as the source of the connectivity problem. Did they experience any storms in the area? I have had lightning strikes chew up network components in my world.

Access to the device will not be OS version dependent...
