Canon ir 4570,problem with SMTP scanning

    I have a customer with a ir4570 with print/nic/scan/universal send/fax

This customer uses the fax forward to email, out of the blue, the scanning SMTP stopped working. The machine network prints fine,it can scan to SMB fine but when you scan SMTP she gives an error report and keeps resending.

I sent my Canon authorized IT guy there and he spend hours there and he flashed the machine, tried mmi clear, reloaded software and finally tells me it must be the main controller board. I put another control board in (used) but good and I have the same issue.

My IT guy has software on his laptop than he can monitor incoming and outgoing email with the machine and he says the machine acts with no response.

Canon feels it is hardware and other people feel it is their internet provider. They are using cables visions optonline for their email server. My IT and their IT went through the router and came up empty.

We also tried to ping yahoo.com from the copier and got a positive response.

Since I changed the main board, I believe I replaced anything that possible can be a culprit in the hardware end.

Right now the customer is scanning their faxes to a folder and then emailing but they want this thing fixed, can anyone give me any ideas for my problem here?

    what is the error code.
provider might have changed port numbers
use ip address of mail server instead of name.

    how about that 020f

hahaha, The 020f on the 5070 was the deliver roller,it is fixed thanks.

I have to ask IT for the code again as I forgot it, what a wacky week I had. They said the ports were checked and confirmed.

Personally I think it is the mail server but since it is an all inclusive service contract I am obligated to see this to the end.

Oh yes please give us the Universal send error codes. Got to have correct gateway in and right DNS server numbers. I expect the ISP hasnt changed so we shouldnt have to worry about changing the PORT , like port 25 port 2525 or port 587 to apease them.

Re: Canon ir 4570,problem with SMTP scanning

this is from my IT guy:
Copier does connect to network for printing and sending to file on computer, but not E-Mail. All settings have been verified and input to copier. I can E-Mail from my laptop on the network port that the copier uses with OutLook Express. When I use a network sniffer (WireShark) I do get traffic when Sending to file but nothing when trying to Send to E-Mail. I also setup a SMTP program on my laptop (PostCast Server) with crossover cable to laptop still no traffic when sending E-Mail

                DHCP works
SMTP: mail.optonline.net no user name and password needed

I can only talk to Canon Networking not hardware. Network people say its hardware?

We are getting an 801 code this is authentication error. Also we are on port 25

Certain Internet Service Providers are now blocking port 25
                  change port 25 to 465 or 587

Re: Canon ir 4570,problem with SMTP scanning

You need to set up an email on the mail server to use for authentication. Or use one already in use. So you need a username and password for a real email that is in the network. Best is to creat one for the copier.

Then you can find out what port the ISP suggests using for this SMTP auth. This can be googled sometimes or call the ISP.

(PostCast Server) I have used this program in the past, no user name and password required. So it is not an outside entity or software blocking us, it is the copier not sending via SMTP.

                            Hi,

Before you restore back network settings via RUI, just to rule out original configuration issue:

After reloading firmware and Clear MMI, you might want to tried using DHCP to capture all the network settings AND input SMTP settings. Tested if email sending works.

By chance, is this iR4570 has "Dynamic DNS Update" set to ON? Will it made any diff if it OFF?
