Canon Ir105 usb to parallel cable..HELP!

Hi guys, im new to the canon IR105 and im trying to install firmware using a usb to parallel cable. My operating system is windows vista and i downloaded a canon ir105 ps3 driver and i cannot get it to connect to the ir105. I cant get it to print or nothing. Does anyone have the driver for this or if i am using the right one do they know where i am going wrong. if anyone can help me i would greatly appreciate it.

The FY9-4154-000 USB-Parallel Adapter is not supported on Windows Vista or Windows 7.

The FY9-4368-000 USB-Parallel Adapter and Service Support Tool Version 4.33Ez or later is required for Windows Vista or Windows 7.

did u install the Nethawk cable DRIVER ???

When updating System Software on an imageRUNNER-iR device that requires an IEEE 1284 parallel printer cable, using a USB to Parallel Nethawk cable does not show as an available option in Service Support Tool even after the drivers of the Nethawk cable is properly installed.

Please Note>>
There are certain laptops used in the field by technicians that may exhibit the problem. A workaround is to use a PCMCIA Cardbus to Parallel Port Adapter AND an IEEE1284 Parallel cable.

Hi, thanks for your help but still no joy. As i stated i am new to the canon ir105. I have tried adding it through a network cable directly(using a crossover) from my laptop to the ir105. I cant seem to get an i.p address off the 105! is the default 172.16.1.100? do you know how to get the configuration page off the ir105?

Quick uodate, when i run sst i start the ir105 in download mode by holding down 8 & 2 but it keeps asking me to start download mode in service mode by holding down 1 & 7 keys but when i do this it boots as normal bypassing the download mode.

1 and 7 is an alternate method called safe mode.
when it boots by holding 1 and 7
go *28*

ok

if SST is asking you to do safe mode you should be able to ignore it and continue your download
if your ip matches the regular ip address.

172.16.1.100 is the safe mode address of your copier
yuo need to set your laptop address to 172.16.1 .xxx (xxx being any other relevant number for the last octet)

thanks for the help, ive now got drivers and everything installed and ready to go then i get another problem. I send a print job and ir105 shows recieving, machine looks as if its printing then nothing comes out. has anyone come across this before. i do not get any error after it thinks its printed.

1. Enter service mode select COPIER>FUNCTION>SYSTEM>CHK-TYPE>select 1 and press O.K. Next select HD-CLEAR and select O.K. The machine should display Start then O.K! Cycle the main power switch. The machine will clear sector 1, which is the image storage area.

2. Re-seat the SRAM on the Main Controller.

3. Reformat and reload system software.

4. Replacing the SRAM (memory) or HDD unit.

Try each step and then test the machine before going to the next step to see if that particular step resolves the problem.

Thanks for the reply but my problem is that i do not have the service mode option. 1 & 7 also gets me nowhere.

My only options are copy/mailbox and options. Is there any other way of getting into service mode?

Downloading in Download Mode
To start download mode,
1)
THEN turn on the power switch.SERVICE MODE
(*)user mode key(2,8)(*)user mode key

Are u hitting the correct * key ????

1-u press user mode>release it/
2-u then press #2 & 8 the same time> u then release them>
3-then u press the user mode key>and release it

Yes guys thats what i am doing. By doing this i get the download screen up with no other options. I am at a pure loss with this service mode!!! When using SST i get keep getting the message on the right handside "The machine must be started by holding down 1and 7 keys for download mode of service mode"

pure frustrated but really appreciating the help guys.

I dont not get those options after i go into download mode. Just a black screen which says download mode at the bottom

wow....... turn copier off, then turn copier on (with main power switch) do not hold down any keys, the depress the * (also called the additional functions key) and release it, then depress the 2 and 8 (together) then release them, then depress the * (additional functions key) and release you should be in the service mode of the copier....then follow what has been siad previously to get to download mode....
