    ir3045 e002

First of all, I usually work on larger (50-105cpm) and color Canon's, so I'm not intimately familiar with these smaller ones. I have replaced drums and feed rollers, but no fuser work as of yet. I do have the manual.

I reset the code yesterday, recycled power a few times, ran copies and watched the temp in service mode - all seemed well. I did notice that the left side door was partially open at the bottom half of it when I arrived. I figured that may have caused the e-002.

Cust called back today with same code. The book says main thermistor.

Is this more likely a cust caused problem (left door not closed properly), a main thermistor, or possibly a fixing film problem?

**Edit - just noticed there is no thermistor listed in the fuser section of the 4570 or 3045 parts manuals. Anyone have a number?

Thermistors are built into the fixing film units. To rule out parts, you can replace the fixing film assembly, or the entire fuser.

    FM2-1793-000 fixing film assembly 3570/4570/3030/3035/3045

    FM3-1293-000 Fuser assembly 3570/4570/3030/3035/3045

      Thanks. I'll order the parts.

the films are pretty easy to replace compared to a segment 4 fuser assembly. Make sure the silver roller that is for cleaning is gets replaced on a regular basis as well as toner builds up on these fairly quick. I clean them on regular service visits with Kwik Solv.
