    Canon IR 3200-C1 duplex registration/calibration

Did a search and found nothing specific to the IR 3200 with the C1 RIP and calibrating back-to-front duplex registration.

A single-sided sheet is off by well over 1/8" in terms of image centering on the page, so duplex is WAY off (1/4" or more).

My previous IR 3200 that died was perfectly calibrated probably 18 months ago, and we never had to touch it since then, so I've since lost the knowledge of the right steps.

    Thoughts?

Digging through the printer's menu (NOT the C1 menu):

    * Additional Settings
    - Printer Settings
    -- Settings
    --- Layout
    ---- Offset X / Offset Y

Seems to work for single-sided prints. Will test it on duplex next.

Duplex is pretty close, maybe 1/16" off in the Offset Y direction, but WAY better than before.

If anyone has any more pointers that I'm forgetting, please post for future search sake. I vaguely remember tray calibration but can't remember if that was a Xerox, Canon or Ricoh issue.

tray calibration is done from the fiery
you can fine tune each tray

for duplex side to side on the copier
        copier >adj> feed adj>refe

        that is the short cut
there is a long more complete process

          Yep, that did it, thanks!

          - Went to Printer tab (main menu on printer)
          -- Printer Status/Settings button
          --- Functions button
          ---- Tray Alignment (second page)

It's near perfect now, maybe 1/64th inch skew.

          THANKS!

Too many years beating up printers -- also too many years of conflicting information in my skull. How I missed the Fiery tray calibration menu this weekend is beyond me.

Next step is to get the skew conquered, but it's not a production printer so perfection isn't important!

                good luck.
                it is within spec.
try doing the tray adjust a couple more times.

there is a nut and screw on the duplexer for skew adjustment.
                good luck with that
