[Error Code] The dreaded e000007-0001 error code!

First of all let me say thank-you to all the people here and the great information that you provide joe-techguys like me!

My name is David and I work as a tech for a local company here in Iowa. Recently our Canon IR4080i (less than 200,000 copies) spit out the old e000007-0001 error. After taking a look at the fuser assembly, I can see that at least one of the red roller bars inside is coming apart. I have checked all the gears and they seem to be in great shape. What would be the appropriate course of action here? Does anyone know of someone that refurbishes these units if I shipped it to them? Can I just replace the upper and lower rollers and go about my day or is there an underlying problem I need to address that caused this in the first place? Also, is it a nasty job to replace these rollers? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

Bottom Line best bet > Replace the unit/

    FM3-3778-00R=$699.00

Call a Canon Authorized Service Co./ they sell the refurbs

we used to rebuild them in the field/ but shipping cost for the upper & mistaken install of gear units by techs/ the time involved/inventory cost &
other things go bad in these units if old(broken gears-some not readily visible)

that price seems too cheap/ it only states motors changed & not the Fix belt & Pressure belt (upper/lower units) ??
red dots indicate a max rebuild of four times/ after that, they discard it

CANON Authorized repair companies are required to mark bar code & register repair with Canon

            FIX.JPG
this unit is heavy & a little difficult to remove and put back in
call for a Canon tech to perform

            IN SERVICE MODE
these replacement units need an Error Clear and a Clear of the Fixing Delivery Print Counter
            COPIER > COUNTER > DRBL-1 > FX-BLT-U

+++then you need to Execute the operation of HP search of the fixing belt and the pressure
            belt
            COPIER > FUNCTION > FIXING > FX-UHP-S
            COPIER > FUNCTION > FIXING > FX-LHP-S

u need an OK ! Message after each operation

Re: The dreaded e000007-0001 error code!

once again thanks for all of your replies! Im not afraid of swapping it out myself, as I've allready removed the original one, and Im a sucker for challenges like this . I was however wondering, say I do get a replacement unit, and replace it, will the error msg Im seeing now let me get to the service menu via *28*. I tried that at the beginning just to see what options were available but i will not let me past the error screen to get into the service menu. It just beeps at me when I press the 2 and 8 keys... Will this message disappear to after installation to allow me to execute the service commands, or is there another trick to getting into the service menu? Also thanks ALOT for letting me know that unit was not the proper voltage, as I had wondered about that. Could anyone point me to the most reasonably price place you know of for refurbished units?

              thanks in advance,
              David

This has got to be the most helpful site Ive ever been on!! Thank you everyone!
Well, I have the motor attachment and it seems to be in great shape, and I was going to order it through our local dealer but they wanted $1800 parts and labor, and I thought that seemed really high... I got a deal for the copier at $1200 (not through the dealer) but this is a perfect example of getting what you pay for. I was a bit surprised that it had this problem as the unit only had 169k copies run through it when we got it.. parts and labor does that seem on par or would I be getting screwed? I don't suppose anyone reading this might be an authorized dealer? If so I would be happy to pay for all shipping to ship it to Canon through you and pay you for your time also!!

                  Thanks again

1.-u don't need that large motor u remove to remove the fix unit

Canon only charges about 700.00 for unit-

We are located in Wever, IA which is the far southeast corner. Are you an Iowan too? I just saw the factory refurbed unit on ebay for 900

and then I also saw another 4080i with 70k copies for 1200!.... So now im really not sure what to do. for about $500 more with shipping I could have a whole other copying unit to replace the one I have and use the old one for parts..... what do you think?
