Customer started having trouble this morning. First page is fine, but almost all subsequent pages are off about 1/4 to 1/2 inch lead to trail. One sided and 2 sided problem. From the way it is described to me, the paper is ahead of the image, shifted to trailing side, in other words. Never was aware of the registration brake, but sounds like that could be the problem and can they be removed and cleaned. Heading there now, looking for input......not jamming yet and just started this morning, anything else I should look for? Thanks!

Re: Ir5065 registration problem
is this from all paper loaded areas ??? Deck/Cassette/bypass ??
If the registration is off one to two sided, check and adjust service mode COPIER>ADJ>Feed-ADJ>REFE. Changing the setting by 10 will adjust the image by 1mm.
check/or replace registration clutch CL2**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.** -
Alright, I am onsite, machine only has 100k, looks brand new. Took off the reg brake but looks good also, cleaned it with alcohol. No change, first copy always looks good, the rest vary as much as half inch to 3/4. Cant see anythinh mechanical......would the clutch cause this?Comment

Re: Ir5065 registration problem
(ADJUST>FEED-ADJ>REGIST).
Use it to adjust the leading edge registration.
adjustment range: -50 to 50
SERVICE MODE:
COPIER> ADJUST> FEED-ADJ> ADJ-REFE
Use it to adjust the horizontal registration for duplex mode.
adjustment range: -50 to 50
Use it to adjust the write start position in main scanning direction at time of re-pickup.
(-50 to 50 mm)
RG-MF
Use it to adjust the registration for manual pickup.
adjustment range: -50 to 50**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment

Re: Ir5065 registration problem
is the lead edge void of the text /??
check
original P PRINT SETTINGS
Laser Write Start Position
Service Mode Level 1, under Copier > Adjust > Laser > PVE-OFST
Use it to adjust the laser write start position.
adjustment range: -300 to 300**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment

Ok. There are no void areas, the image is shifted to the trail edge, so actually it woild be blank at the lead, but due to shift. Just noticed: BYPASS WORKS FINE!!!!!!!!. So this would surely rule out registration assembly. All others shift after first page.....sorry for mis information...Comment

are the cassettes showing the correct paper size ?
is reg issue on network prints and glass copies ???**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment

No jams, so no codes. Yes,issues with network prints and feeder/glass, dont matter. The bypass does fine copying and printing. All trays are showing correct size.
so im guessing the issue is before the bypass path and after tray 1 path......vertical drive????????Comment

Re: Ir5065 registration problem
check for burrs or nicks in your paper guides and sensor flags. Also make sure your sensor flags are snapping back into place properly and not moving slowly. A slow moving flag can cause all kinds of issues.Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.Comment

Re: Ir5065 registration problem
an error in the stepping motors (pickup motor (M11, M12, M24) always leads to paper jam.
did u check your P PRINT settings ?
is this reg issue constant ( delay text reg issue starts in same place on all paper sizes ??**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment

Took out the deck 1 pickup unit, lubed the gears that drive the vertical drive rollers on the tray 1 pickup assembly. Looks like that motor also drives the duplex exit rollers. These gears are on the upper tear frame where you slide in the unit. After that, ran 200 without a problem. Maybe they were tight. Dint know.....Comment

Re: Ir5065 registration problem
its possible but unlikely. The timing of the paper and image goes off of what the sensor flags tell the machine for timing regardless of the source. I would look at that pre-reg flag, roller and guide area that the stack bypass doesn't use, but all the cassettes go through.Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.Comment
