[CQ] Canon IR C2550 Black Stripes on prints.

    Hi,

I place an attached document with an actual machine copy, I get those lines also from printed reports and calibration pages.
I suspect from the black imaging unit, I actually open the machine and review the imaging units, the black unit had black stripes on Drum.

I want to make sure of my diagnostic is accurate as possible and all your comments will be really appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.Canon Copy C2550.pdf

    Replace Black unit/ check others

    Deep Lines in Drum Surface
Check the Waste Toner shutter on the process unit for proper operation, it should open and close when you move the process drawer assembly lock handle, toggle between the lock and unlock positions and look for movement at the front of the drum assembly were the waste toner exits from the cleaning assembly. If there is no movement the coupling may be broken or the gearing may be stripped out, to decipher between which issue it is see if any of the couplings on all the drums are not or are moving, if they are not moving then there is a gearing issue then replace the process unit or the individual parts, if only one is an issue then replace the coupler assembly (FM2-5586-000 WASTE TONER 2 FEED ASSEMBLY)

Great, I will check for this working as your advice.

Data: machine is around 90,000 total prints.

I check the mechanism, It is in good shape and working as you describe.
I will proceed to change the Black Imaging Unit, The Drum look very bad, with profuse damage.
Thanks for your professional advice, It was very helpful.

Witch software I need to install for Remote Scanning in this machine?
The machine will be connected into a small business network.
They will not use Server for this equipment, only a conventional router and a couple of computers with some with win xp and win 7.
              Thanks in Advance.

the machine comes standard with universal send which gives you the scan to network or scan to email function. You just need to configure the device to support it.

if you want to use pull scan the you can load color network scangear and go that route
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

I replace the black Imaging Unit with an original Canon, It print and copy great with the expected quality.
Also I connect my laptop to the LAN and successfully install the machine with UFRII driver for Win 7 64, it work great.
I didn't perform any scan yet.

                  Thanks for your advice.

Question: Does I need to reset any maintenance counter due the black imaging change?

                    Identifying a New/Old Drum Unit
This device does not have memory in the drum unit so, when a new drum is mounted, the drum life counter value stored in the printed needs to be reset.

The device detects old and new drum units, so that the counter can be reset.

The detection is performed by the DC controller CPU monitoring the fuse detection signal.
When the CPU detects that a new drum unit has been mounted, it outputs a fusing signal and blows the fuse on the drum unit.
At the same time, the drum life counter resets to 0.

Do not replace drum units with new ones unnecessarily, in order to check function operations during service, etc.
The device blows the drum fuse as soon as it detects a new drum unit and resets the drum life counter to 0.
Even if the old drum unit is replaced immediately, the drum life counter will increment as a new drum unit.

                    Service Mode:
                    COPIER > FUNCTION > INSTALL > AINR-OFF
Invalidates drum initialization that is performed when a new drum unit is installed. Also, the fuse is not blown, as it would usually be after drum initialization is completed.

This mode would be used to replace a drum unit temporarily in order to check image quality, for example when trying to trace the cause of a problem.
0: Initialization carried out for new unit. Fuse blown. (Default)
1: No initialization for new unit. Fuse not blown.

Further, this service mode should be set to [1] only when necessary for service. After the service is complete, the setting must always be returned to [0].

Detecting the Life of the Drum
The device estimates the degree of drum wear based on the following two types of data and computes the drum
                    life.
                    - time length of drum rotation + time length of primary charging
                    - number of prints
The DC controller refers to the foregoing data when the power is turned on or when the front door is opened/
closed; as a result, if any of them is above a specific value, the DC controller notifies the drum life notice
                    message to the main controller

First, Thanks for taking tame to explain with details.
Well, The old drum was in very bad conditions, I notice the wear with simple view and inspection.
I Place the new drum without and special service conditions, it works.
According your explanation, the drum counter reset with new drum installation automatically?

                      Thanks in advance.
