13.4.1 Confirming of the nip width
Executed the following item of the service mode, and
measure the nip width.
COPIER>FUNCTION>FIXING>NIP-CHK
The sheet stops temporarily at the fixing unit and it
is delivered.
Standard of the nip width
Center part: 8mm or more
Difference of right and left edge: 1mm or less
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.
you have to measure on both the front and lead edge of the paper across the portion of the page where the toner is melted showing your NIP gap. They should be the same or within .5 mm of each other.
I'm taking it you are not a trained technician?!?!

then you should have been supplied with a manual or training of some sort. If you are on your own then invest in some manuals for the equipment you are working on. Paul at manuals4you.com is big supporter of the website and has all the manuals you will ever need.

garbanis9,
I would have to agree. Get the manuals, they have the details you are seeking.
In the book it would say to start with a black copy in the by pass. It has to be
face up, I believe. Then run the nip check program. The copy will come out with
a shinny bar on the page that you can measure. This is your nip width.
Paul at just manuals has been very helpful for me in the past. Definitly
get the books it will save you time, fustration, money and customers.
