An E220 error means that the machine did not detect the correct amount of light. There can be several reasons for this:

    1) Sure, the most common is the lamp flickering, lighting slowly, or not reaching the optimum brightness. A bad lamp can do this.
    2) Next most common is a lamp heater that has slipped out of position & is blocking the intensity sensor. (bottom center) it sounds like you thought of that one too.
    3) How about the white level reference (dirty, peeling, discolored).
    4) Lamp inverter
    5) How about enviromental temperature? I didn't notice what area you're from, but temperatures below 10C cause the lamp to light slowly.
    6) Failed lamp heater
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
