    Canon IR 5570

I was up in the lens area trying to solve a Error 733 and 732 error code. After reseating all the cables I and getting almost blank copies from the glass the prined shots look fine so the print engine is ok

So I rechecked the flat connector cables and ended up with an E225. This was due to the glass not being in place on power on.

I fixed that and thought the machine was back up. However, all copies coming off the glass or doc feeder are significantly light. All printer material (laser) are fine. So the print engine is good.

I made sure everything was back in place and did a CCD adjust. I get OK. It sets itself to 1125 when door specs are 1222. Light copy is produced. So I set it to 1222 and cps are darker but still blasted away. I do a trianglulated sky shot and can see the skyshot and a BIG dark A I wrote on the test sheet but everything else is blown away by the light being to bright.

    When I do SCANLAMP test= start-ok!

    CCD test start-ok!

I went to SVClv2 and not a lot there for CCD other than the 1222 setting and two ref values.

I rechecked all ribbon cables and they all look fine.

Copier works as a printer but copying is out. Even with the AE taken off and manual exposure maxed out dark.

    Any thoughts?

did you see e001s along with your e733s and e732s.
if so: the fuser is your problem.
it is common to see all 3 together

seems like you forgot to replace a mirror or the ccd assy correctly.

Yes, I do see all three codes together. The fuser was my first guess. I replaced the UFroller . The problems still kept coding out. That is where I moved towards the 732 and 733.

The E001 code was a E001-0010 that just ment the machine was restarted w/o resetting the code. That was why I thought to go up into the reader controller.

The only thing moved up to was the reader controller and lamp driver board. I did not move the lens/ccd. Been there done that. Got the T shirt.

The image is square on the page. You can barely see the image. So I do not think it has to do with the ccd being mounted right.

I think the lamp brightness is out of whack. It keeps telling me that the slit glass is dirty. The CCD adjust puts in a much lower value than door sticker. I did a CCD adjust and it said OK, did the DFWLV1 said OK, did DFWLVL2 FAIL.

Let me review how I got here. I only went up the to reseat the ribbon cables between lamp drive board, reader controller and interface. I saw this on another persons issue on this Copy board.

So now I am trying to get my copy back so I can refocus on the fuser.

BTW works fine as a printer. But when I turned off potential control I got a nearly BLACK copy.

Thanks for your help on this.

Try copier>function>CCD>CCD Adjust (shade adjustment), no ditterence

Then reduce the setting in Copier>Adjust>AE>AE-TBL Info from the trouble shooting chart, Chapter 13

E732 error can occur if J9013 has been disconnected.
Check to make sure connector J9013 near the DC Power Supply has not been disconnected.

try cleaning, reversing and reconnecting your interface cable between reader and printer.

go down the list of ecodes again to the first one for that day, 99% you will see a legit e001-001 or -002.
If not: i think you should need a new reader controller

we have been experimenting a lot with fuser codes e001-e004 on 5570, but there is no foolproof fix, except replacing the whole fuser.

anything from bad lower beasrings, to cracked gears can cause it.
once i fixed one by replacing the heater, but other guys say it did not work for them.
changing the thermistors is usually a waste of time.
the inner gears for the heater shield have been modified, along with other things.
sometimes there is paper stuck in your connector (either side) can cause many different codes
sometimes there is a bent pin, needing a harness replacement
            sometimes shimming the connector works

Wow, that made a difference but did not fix. If I had 10% copy now it is at 50%. Still to weak to walk away. And the book refers to the ram being cleared on the reader controller. So it is a setting in reader controller.
When I openned it up it was set at factory default of 5 (1-9). So I set it to 3 and got 50% copy. Any move up or down does not show any effect. I tried 1 and then up to 7. Just the same 50% copy.

In reply to another comment. I have switched out the data cable between the copier and the reader with no change.

by data cable -u mean the ribbon cables ??

Ribbon cables are difficult to inspect on the outside>to determine damage/

Misalignment and Distortion in the Scanner Unit
,leads to the symptom that the image density is light.
Change the shape of Pressure Spring, add holes for mounting the Leaf Spring to the Scanner Stay (R) [C] and
fix the Leaf Spring [D] with cross-recess screws as to prevent the misalignment and distortion in the Scanner
Unit. Stepped screws for mounting the Scanner Unit is discontinued.

I think that is a CCD function. Unfortunitly I went out today and CQ slid back down hill. My goal was to set every setting to door spec. I found some had gone way out. Anything stored on the Reader controller. AE, Adj xy, home position-100 ect. Unfortunately I am trying to repair a 5570 with a 5000 manual. The good part is I've been in this game for over 15 years so I can wing it. The 5000 had setting and functions for the scanner and mirror 1 to find the white plate. I do not see that at all in SM level 1 or 2.

After setting those settings I was no where. I figured the reader controller lost it's RAM values by being unplugged.

And to the other data cable post, I switched out the external data cable that is out side the machine, is gray and has silver metal locking clips.

Maybe I need to order a ribbon cable with a reader control.
