[CQ] light copies to error code

I am working on an IRC3480. It had very light black prints and copies. Color was ok. I ordered a
black pcu and replaced it. The copier doesn't recognize the pcu as new. The density reading is 125%
where the colors are 4%. It errors out with an E20-23. I looked at the connector for the drawer the drums and the transfer assy. go in. It is on the right side by the drawer release handle. One of the pins appears to be bent toward the outside of the connector that is mounted on the copier frame. Any help would be appreciated.

The 0023 sub code is fairlly common and your original drum might still be good. Cleaning the dust proof glass usually fixes the issue...read below:

    Error :
E020-0023 will not reset after the machine is powered off and on. Replacing the Drum and the ATR Sensor did not clear the error.

    Workaround :

In this case cleaning the Dust Proof Glass fixed the error.Check the Dust Proof Glass for soiling. The glass is located under each unit and may have toner spilled on it. Clean the glass with the tool provided on the front door. Instruction's are also included there.

    solution #2

    Error :
Brand new machine displays E020 0023 on initial boot up. Machine never lays down a black patch, black drum unit was replaced and the problem was still present.

    Workaround :
Drum drive was operational however, the black developer had no drive.
You can test the drive cog by marking it with a sharpie marker to confirm that it is turning during initial rotation.

Solution was to remove and reinstall the black developer clutch.

Consult service manual or Navi for disassembly instructions as some power supplies must be removed for access to the developer clutches.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.
