    I am pretty sure you cannot import a scanned image through adobe reader. You will need the full version to accomplish that.

        This may be a stupid question, but don't most manufacturer's have a scanning program that they recommend? Like when you purchase a camera, there is usually software that comes with the camera that they want you to use. If I remember right, the program that my boss was using was through Canon, so is there a program that Canon offers that I can use for scanning?

            The problem here is, that the "Scan-Gear" is only a Twain Driver, means it is a Link between the scanner and the application, NOT a Scan Program itself.
            To test, if all works well, i would recommend you a little useful Grafic Viewer named "Irfanview"

            With this little Program, you can import documents via Twain Scan. Just hit File---> select twain source or ----> aquire twain/batch scanning

                Charm and my friend also Use the Acrobat not the Adobe Reader ,Acrobat Pro 7 i use it and i can make scan on it usually

                    This my way, If you still not get rid of this problem, Then try this.
                    Download the "desktopbinder software" in the internet> It freeware. install it on your boss PC. You can
                    Do scanning using this software. after instalation completed then go to extended features and on scanner windows select the scanner
                    to your mentioned scanner model. you must select it before you can do scanning.

                    This is not a joke, proven.
